CEL w/no AC

The car had been sitting since Friday night at my house

My father recently took out the car and it had the check engine light on and the ac was not working. Claimed everything drove well. I have a scan gauge 2 on the car which wasn't working when he came back so I restarted it and it kept giving me codes not one specific code. Not sure if I'm doing it right however I wanted to know if anyone else ran into this issue. Cleared the code ac came back on and everything seems to be back to normal as of now..going for a long ride to see if it will come back on.

If it happenes again I'll just have to drive it Toyota...

U can still drive to dealer & tell them to inspect. Having record > no record.

Did you get a code U0073?

This car's computer does not play well with scanners attached to the OBDII port when the car is started. It's fine until you stop and restart the car, but when the car starts up with the scanner attached, the onboard computer gets confused. If you make sure your scanner is off or disconnected when you start the car, it will not throw the code.

U0073 will cause a CEL, AC doesn't work, cruise control doesn't work, and the car goes into limp mode where it doesn't provide full power. You may also see some sluggish performance after you clear the code until you have stopped and restarted the car several times. It's not a real problem and causes no damage, just an inconvenience.

Might be something else, but next time it happens check for that.

Forgot to mention the traction light was on. No U0073 codes..giving me "P" codes. Good to know about these cars being stupid with scanners. Next time I'll drive it to the dealer...problem is I'm to young for a rental at my dealership ..good thing I have a land cruiser as a second car :bonk:

It won't be necessary to take it to the dealer if ...... you just don't let old men drive it ......

So you're not allowed to drive yours?

Anyway, I know you got more than one code, but do you remember what codes popped up? Can make diagnosing a bit easier...

I'd hate to start putting numbers up...some 37FE, PE..if it comes on again I'll write them down I was just doing a quick search. Found a pdf with a bunch of number codes and none of them were what I was reading. Appreciate the help guys!
