Things To Do In San Francisco

Howdy.

I'm visiting San Fran for this week for Google I/O, but wanted to see what y'all enjoy doing or recommend seeing around the area. I'm staying downtown near the Moscone.

Thanks!

My first suggestion is to not call it "San Fran"

right by Moscone, check out the Thirsty Bear Brewing Co. Good food and beers there. :)

Second this. Great organic beer(better then it sounds) and very good food.

LOL I think we Bay Area locals get sick of sourdough and take it for granted... talking to some East Coast folks, the other thing that is special here is apparently Dutch Crunch bread. I didn't realize until I talked to them that it isn't available in a lot of the US? But you can find it pretty readily at any sandwich place here.

I've never heard of Dutch Crunch bread. I'll find some sandwich shops and try it out!

Sourdough though... gives me the bubble guts. Not something I want during a conference :bonk:

Some more info about Dutch Crunch... you kind of have to be careful while eating it as it might scrape the roof of your mouth like eating chips or anything else crunchy LOL.

Food: Go to Ike's for a dutch crunch sandwhich. Near the moscone center, get a Sushiritto for lunch, it will change your life. Get coffee at sightglass, fourbarrel, ritual, andytown (far from SOMA though), or trouble (also far). For beer, check out mekkeller or magnolia. Cocktails, go to trick dog. As for something to do at I/O, go to the exploratorium tomorrow, thursday, night. Sounds silly, but it's not. If you have time during the day to kill, muir woods. If you have your FRS with you...skyline to la honda, up the PCH and stop in half moon bay.

But you will need to drive 1 hour south. :)

Unfortunately didn't bring the car with me. Would've loved driving some of the great canyons and roads you guys have over here.
