Tirerack TPMS prices

Does anyone else think Tirerack is WAY out of line asking $400 for TPMS? I see the same or equivalent sensors for $42 each. $400 for TPMS sensors is a deal breaker for me from ordering from them.

TPMS sensors can vary greatly. I list 2012 Subaru TPMS sensors for $80, but 2012 Toyota Camry TPMS sensors are $155. Hyundai Genesis Coupe TPMS sensors are $100, While Chevy Cruze TPMS sensors are $63.

The prices can very greatly, and considering the BRZ sensors apparently don't match toher Subaru sensors, I can certainly see them costing about $100.

They do match other Toyota Sensors. I'm not sure which Toyota's are compatible, but the are using a Toyota protocol.

The considering the prices for Toyota TPMS sensors I see at work, $100 per is a good price. $400 is a lot better than $620.

Do we need to have the sensors? What happens if I mount Rims and tires without the sensors? Also.. Can I put the sensors from the stock wheels on the new rims?

You can also re-use your OEM sensors. Just get new a new gasket kit.

i'm more curious to know what i can do about ignoring the sensors...

Remove the light, black electrical tape, or just live with it. Car companies have made sure you can't disable it for liability reasons. There is a good write up in the DIY section on how to disable the light.

On the plus side unlike some cars from there is no effect on other things like turning off traction control.

I autocrossed my car. Traction control still works as normal. I got slideways with TC full off, and on the street with TC on it still keeps me from getting too out of hand.

Tested during autocross and a rainy day on the street.

Thank you. I am so happy to here that this won't affect TC, unlike my 2011 Fit did - that sucked!

Update, they lowered the price to $284. Still kind of high but better than $400. I pulled the trigger since they also had a great price on wheels.
