Tires in east bay area
Hi I wonder where is a good place to get tires and tire mount in Castro valley , Hayward , Union City , Fremont area?
If its a little further out I don't mind driving too much There's a particular set I want but can't seem to find much places the carries it and have to be special ordered so its not cheap compared to online prices. If I have to order online where would be a good place to get it mounted? Thanks This is the particular set I want " Dunlop SportMaxx Rt 91y SL 225-45-17 " |
I go to castro valley tire pro or American tires. roger Kraus may have a better chance to carry your tires.

WheelWorks in Fremont treated my wife nicely and cost less than Americas tires for mount and balance. They also caught a leaking strut on our Fiat. I've been pretty happy with Americas Tires, but their prices aren't the best.

I use the Wheel Works on Jackson in Hayward... order my tires at Tire Rack if they can't get them, and have them shipped there. Guys there are cool, one of the installers owns a WRX and I think he always tends to my car there.

Try going on onlinetires.com and then price match the tires with Discount Tires/American tires. I got my tires for 89.00 each, which came out to be 132 with tax and everything. Got my tires mounting/switched at Motorsport Technique in Hayward for 50 bucks flat.

DO you work at the shop right next to the union city BART station? I may drop by to have my tire pressure checked. |
If you are looking for high performance or track oriented (even DOT slicks) tires then https://www.onedgeperformance.com/ can be a good option. Guy Gamba, the owner, is really good at what he does and at what the behavior of various tires is if you give them a call. They are partnered with a couple of shops in the area for getting the tires mounted and such (for example a couple of the Big'Os in the area) and can have the tires transferred there directly.
OnEdge is also a local business so there is something to be said about supporting that and their prices are right around tirerack's prices, but you might be able to get some savings on shipping (not really sure on that one). If you've been to HoD track days then OnEdge are the people who do the tire temp station, though they used to just call themselves Big'O. |

And as for pressure, I like 38/38. its seems just about right IMO, its usually what I set it at. If you're lowered and have a stiffer set-up than stock, try 32 in the front and 38 in the rear, it'll slide a little more often than usual lol. But if not, 38 all around is really what I prefer on my stock wheels. |
Update I just got my schedule, W-allday th:1-6 fri:allday if y'all wanna slide thru
