Aftermarket Air Intake with Sound Generator Attachment?
So I'm in the market for my first air intake. The 2 intakes I'm in between right now are:
1. Corsa Performance PowerCore Closed Box Air Intake http://i59.tinypic.com/16itngp.jpg 2. AIRAID Intake System http://i57.tinypic.com/2vlwped.jpg Simply because I don't want to lose the sound generator tube. Both of these intakes have the option to keep it. Does anyone know of any other intake systems that don't make you delete the sound generator tube? I feel like there should be more than 2... What am I missing? :help: |
Neither air intake will give you any sufficient gains. It'd be best to save your money and intake sound tube and stay stock.

Best would be to change a bit wording .. original inlet has both resonator and sound generator tube attachments. You asked about sound generator, not resonator, from what i saw in pics.
And yes, +1 on just drop-in $40 airfilter in stock air box for most of gains, minimum spendings, and still keeping wanted sound generator tube. |
Everything I've read on this forum has maintained that there's no performance to be gained from any of the air box replacement kits, so I opted to go with a drop-in filter. When a Cosworth drop-in filter popped up in the classifieds I bought it for half off MSRP and, much to my surprise, it livened the car up a bit. We're not talking a night and day difference, but the engine definitely felt like it revved more freely, pulled stronger on top, and it added a nice intake growl. The filter is made very well and I recommend it highly.
If you're looking to improve aesthetics the air box replacement may be the way to go, but some here (including reputable tuners after dyno tuning) have made the case that it actually decreased performance. In my opinion, the drop-in option is pretty tough to beat. |
One CAN obtain extra performance from aftermarket intake. But you get 85-90% of those gains from drop in filter costing 1/10th the price of it. One can simply get more power per $ if investing in other parts, but if those are done aswell, intake's gains are less then just everything but intake stock due gains not exactly stacking up and soon hitting diminishing gains, hence making it's purchase even less financially worth it.
But still, while slight, slight gains can be gained from some of those, and some decide on installing it if they try to squeeze everything they can on their track cars doing all the possible intake/exhaust mods, with money no object .. or they do that for bling purposes. |
Not sure if you meant an entire intake or not but I have this for sale. I bought it bc I wanted to keep the stock snorkel like you.

The Mishimoto silicone pipe that retains the stock airbox gives you the option of using the noisemaker or blocking it off (they provide an aluminum plug with the pipe).
