How's the sound with these? Any change over the stock FRS/BRZ tips?

thermobox 07-07-2012 10:44 AM

Agreed.

quik1987 07-07-2012 07:16 PM

Every USDM FR-S/BRZ owner should do this mod IMO. Stock tips look retarded.

Unless you're getting a exhaust installed.

Does anyone know what is the jdm tips or the euro tips on the outside output diameter when you look at it ? I want to compare w/ other tips sale at local store. They cary from 3.5" up to 3.875".

I measured the inner diameter this morning to be about 3.4" which is consistent with the claimed 86 mm spec I've read in articles.

Did you measure by any chance the outside diameter?

Need someone to measure the JDM outside diameter tips for comparison. I want this thing as big as possible to fill up that diffuser cut-out. Look scary like a 500 hp turbo tips :)

Nevermind about those tips. I will go for this real exhaust tips per below and done with it. The tip size is awesome :)

Your link has a lot of exhaust systems. Which one did you choose?

Yeah sorry, I was out and didn't have access to my car most of that day and now I'm at work. I'll try to measure the outer diameter if/when I remember to do so. But the STI Exhaust tips are claimed to be 120mm on the STI Japan website which is about 4.7" (not sure if inner or outer) and by the looks of it there is still plenty of clearance to the diffuser for larger tips. So the largest tips you found at that store should work.

But a real exhaust would be better. Which are you thinking of getting TRD_86? I'm thinking of getting the Greddy SP Elite myself and passing my tips to my dad once he gets his BRZ.

TRD_86 07-16-2012 04:28 PM

Yes. Im going for one of the greddy model. They look n sound awsome to me. We need to wait for the real dyno test for comparison each model. I will pick for highest hp gain model for this car. Greddy is local would be better deal.

Were those tips bought from Japanparts.com? Because the car you pictured is FR-S and that makes me curious.

See, I'm trying to confirm whether the JDM tips available at JapanParts websites Subaru section are the same as GT86 tips or what? Think someone can measure the inside diameter of the tips they got from Japanparts subaru section?

Yes, the tips from japanparts.com are the genuine OEM GT 86/Japan BRZ tips. (I bought them from the page)

And yes, the inside diameter measures 86mm exactly as the GT86 OEM's.

Jeff Lange 07-21-2012 03:17 AM

I ordered the tips myself and had them shipped from Japan. Not sure what Japanparts.com is selling, but they're probably the same. :)

Jeff

aznsensazian 07-22-2012 12:20 AM

I'm shopping for some exhaust tips since the JDM ones are insanely priced imo. Can someone tell me what the dimensions of the JDM exhaust tips are? I believe the inlet is 2.25in and outlet is 86mm or 3.38in, but what is the length of the tip? Is it 7in?

tintumz22 07-23-2012 12:08 AM

This can fit The frs? When you bought those tips, were they sold in pairs? Or 9k yen/$120 a piece or pair?

yes, the 9K Yen is for the pair and yes, they fit the FRS the same.

tintumz22 07-23-2012 12:27 AM

How much total did you pay including shipping?

Sportsguy83 07-23-2012 12:58 AM

Would like to ask if these also fit on the FRS? i would like to get these too!!<<< NVM just looked at the replies IM GETTING THESE TIPS COME TO PAPA!!!!

thermobox 07-28-2012 12:15 PM

They are so worth it. They should have come standard or been offered as an Accessory from SOA.

86BRZ 10-13-2012 02:18 AM

Agreed. This way the car looks completed. The original is a joke. $165 a pair..$85 a pc is not too bad for a chrome metal piece. Subaru charge those 2 little plastic fender trim for almost $100, $50/ pc now.

86BRZ 10-13-2012 08:57 PM

Ordered yesterday. Thank you for all the references.

JimmyMac 10-14-2012 09:35 PM

Japan parts was fast to deliver when I ordered mine. Looks a hellava lot better than the small domestic tips. I might have my JDM tips up for sale when I get off my butt and install my N1 exhaust.

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...g/FR-S/017.jpg

JimmyMac 10-14-2012 10:11 PM

One other note, please DO NOT PM me to buy them. I already have 2 PM's for them. I'll put them up for sale when I am ready and I will not sell them until I have my other exhaust installed. Any more PM's and I will not consider selling them to you. Thanks.

86BRZ 10-21-2012 05:37 PM

Are they 86mm somewhere inside? I am thinking that may be a marketing reason this parts will not sell under Subaru. Waiting for mine to come....

Yes, they are 86 mm inside. Subaru of Japan sells them.

ayau 10-28-2012 02:39 PM

this is probably the best shot showing you the angle of the jdm tips on a jdm brz.

I'd have to clean them up a little. Only had them on for maybe a month to a month and a half. I almost don't want to get rid of them.

I just got my jdm or euro tips I should say and they are awesome, these are the tips all models should have came with...the usdm tips are trinkets compared to the jdm/euro.

Dorb 12-09-2012 10:18 PM

How these holding up guys? Any problems? I really, really want these. Are these part number 484-013-001 from the site? (the last one on this page) http://japanparts.com/db/partslist.p...maker=&VOLKEY=

It is Xmas time and me thinks Santa needs to dop off a pair for me.

ngabdala 12-09-2012 10:59 PM

There isn't enough info available on those IMO. Personally, I would never buy any one of those.
