Crickets if left unfixed?
Long story short:
Bought the car at 39,000 miles, it's not at 45,000. Had pretty quiet crickets, but now they're pretty loud and it's discomforting :( Not sure if warranty transfers through tbh, but what can I do? If left unfixed, will anything bad happen or will it just be an annoying noise with no huge long term problems? |

If left unfixed theyll keep on cricketing
|
If left, nothing will happen. It's not an "issue" just a product of a high pressure fuel pump, and CA 10% ethonol gas/summer blend.
|
Embrace the crickets!

My replacement started knocking like the factory installed one. I'm not even going to bother getting it fixed because I'm trading it in for a 16 WRX in a couple months.

Was paranoid at first, but than didn't care later on. Dealer asked if I wanted to change for 2015 pump (i drive 2013 btw) and I said will it completely remove the sound of the crickets? He replied back saying no, eventually they will come back. This was done @ Hamer Toyota, California. Also told me my car was too low and could not even be serviced anyway. Not even slammed just lowered on Sportline Spings from Eibach.

Not something I can guarantee, but it works for me and I've heard it works for a few other people too...Have you tried filling up with Chevron's 91? It completely eliminated crickets for me and I tested it compared to Shell gasoline and such.

The crickets don't hurt anything, they're just really annoying. I've been able to keep them at bay by using ethanol free gas, but some people don't think the extra cost is worth it. I still haven't figured out if it's the lack of ethanol or the lubricants they put in E0 that actually kills the crickets though.

I've been running Chevron only & I get no crickets or very very mild crickets, I can't complain :)

I only hear crickets after the car has been completely warmed up and driving for a bit. on cold starts, I don't hear them at all. it's not even loud at all, can't hear it unless I step out of the car and walk near the hood. I have been using Chevron 91 ever since I got the car, but I don't know if that's the reason. I was worried since I read a lot of people hearing the chirping from inside the car, but I'm thankful mine isn't that bad. (knock on wood)
