Cusco Short Antenna for the BRZ/FRS

2 Attachment(s)
I just installed the shorter antenna from Cusco ($38 from frsport.com). I was hoping the antenna would be shorter, but this is better than our RC antenna :)

Install was super simple, you just unscrew the existing antenna then screw in the new one! Voila!

looks great, I didn't know Cusco made antennas too.

cannot decide between shorty vs shark fin

Any idea of the carbon version is shorter or actually made of carbon?

Calidrifter 06-16-2012 03:30 AM

So you went with the medium right? I believe they make like a 1 or 2 inch one as well. I went with shark fin cause I like the look.

I would go with the shark fin look too except I'm not sure how well they seal around the sides... Might just go with a shorty to be safe.

I think the carbon version is the same. Looked like fake carbon to me since the price is the same. I didn't know they went ahirter than what I have

Any differences in reception? I just bought the carbon one

As an alternative, I got a 1.5' one off of Ebay for 10 bucks. Reception is noticeably less, but not a huge problem for me as all the radio stations I listen to have a strong enough signal (And 90% of the time I use my USB or phone streaming). It was cheap, so not a big deal to switch it back. I'll post a pic over the weekend maybe. Some people say it's too short, but I think it looks great. I'm sure you can find some slightly longer antennas too.

Search for something like "1.5 short stubby Volkswagen":

How does the perrin hold up in terms of reception vs the stock antenna.

I also have the Perrin 2" and I've lost quite a bit of reception. So much that I might switch back to stock. I don't listen to the radio much, but when I do, I want it to be there.

lol, I guess I never noticed since I listen to ipod mostly, and it's radio is clear when I use it. I liked the SAT radio, but not worth it if I barely use it....

I've got the 2" Perrin and radio reception is fine, but then I live in an area with strong signals and flat landscapes.

I have the carbon cusco antenna, the reception is the same as the oem one.
