Fix Loose Plastic Disc at top of OEM Shift Knob>
I just found that a rattle at certain rpms in my BRZ is from the OEM shifter knob. The plastic disc on top is loose, so it rattles. Does anyone know a way to fix/tighten it?
I plan on going to a Subaru dealership and seeing if this is under warranty. Edit: I have a manual BRZ |
If the whole knob is rattling (loose), turn it clockwise to tighten.
If it won't go all away around and it's not straight, unscrew it and place a pencil erasure (if you can still find one) on top of the shaft and screw the knob back on. If the plastic insert is rattling (loose), pop it off and glue it back on. At least those things worked on my miata ...... humfrz |
My 10 series knob was rattling it and I took it apart with a flat head with tape and applied glue to where they originally had glue. They used really cheap glue.

There is a TSB for rattling shifter. They replace the whole assembly. Bring it in and have the dealer fix it.

and the TSB is only for the FRS. Would Subaru still fix it in my BRZ for free? |
