5th gear downshift grind- Toyota says it's normal...
 

My 2013 FR-S has started to get notchy and grind when I downshift from 6th to 5th at above 60mph. I also get an occasional grind into 6th. This started at about 10k miles and I'm currently just under 13k miles. As far as I can tell this is a well documented issue. The dealer at first could not reproduce the problem. I went for a test drive with a tech and they agreed, not normal. The next day two other techs say it's normal. Service manager contacts Toyota and they say this is normal. They are telling me now to bring it back when it gets worse.

Anyone else gotten this run around with this problem? How did you get action?

Keep bringing it back to them or to a new dealer. Bug them enough and they'll do something about it (read: new transmission).
