Is it fast?

So I have I question for you guys.

Is it fast?

This is basically the question I keep getting asked by people who see the car for the first time. Some of these people are just passer byers , and some of them drive cars that are clearly faster than ours (Camaros, Z's, G's, etc), on a straight at least.

So how would you guys respond to this question because all I keep saying to them is that "it's fast enough."

Just say no

pyro530 06-15-2012 04:10 PM

Fast? not so much in stock form.
Fun to drive? Yes, probably at the top of a long list.

Its quick enough to get you in trouble and just slow enough to not get you killed on the street.

ubersoph 06-15-2012 04:15 PM

Nope, but it's fun. Not too slow around a track

Draco-REX 06-15-2012 04:15 PM

Fast? No.

Quick? Yes.
(The person who asked the question usually just nods at this point, utterly confused.)

My response is.. got your pinks?

Then just try and hold a serious face long enough for them to back away... ;)

I've been answering "I don't know if it is. I've never tried it."

At times, I do want to tell them the awesomeness that is this car.
But I'm a humble guy and I don't want to make them feel bad that they don't have one.

Just saying.

While stopped at a light, I had a young kid in a 4th-gen Camaro ask me my horsepower. Even when I told him 200hp, he grinned and said he "bets it could haul." I responded "I dunno. Haven't tried yet; it's still new." Seems at very least he understood the significance of low weight for power demands.

My standard answer is a variant of pyro's:

Not the fastest, but fun as hell to drive.:burnrubber:

It's actually very fast because I"m not stomping on the brakes at every turn. ;) This car reminds me a bit of a funny video I watched on You Tube a few years ago. It was a camera mounted on a supercharged Lotus Elise that was racing on a track in Great Britian. In the video the Elise would be overpowered by a Vette by like one or two hundred yards in the straights. Then the funny things was that the Elise driver would easily over take the Vette in the corners. That video clearly showed the difference between competing philosophies.

Anyway, it doesn't matter how fast my car is. What I like is it is ORANGE and awesome looking!

SnapOv3st3r 06-15-2012 05:16 PM

I would say yes. Why?

Because Fast = Top speed to me. And it tops out around 170mph.

If they ask if it was Quick, then I would say "it depends on your definition of quick". AutoX it would be quick. Drag strip...not quick.

thill 06-15-2012 05:19 PM

Hard to answer without knowing what the person is asking is used to driving.

Compared to a Prius or a Nissan Versa? Heck yes it will feel fast..

Compared to a Mustang GT? It won't....

I think the person above said it best. The car is quick and nimble...
