Picking up a 86, or maybe not...
Hi all,
I found a really nice Gt86 from 2013 with hardly any milage on. My plan is to buy it. Or it was untill I read about the 2016 model. Now I cant decide if I should wait or just go ahead and get that super nice86 I have found... :bonk: Btw, thanks for letting me join this group! |
The differences between the two are so minor (unless I missed something on the European 16my) that you might as well save some money and go with the one you already found.
|
I would wait until at LEAST 2020, because then they will have had to make a model with more power... they've just gotta!
|
I read that 2016 model of the 86 would be one lightweight and one turbo version. True or false?

Agreed, the turbo is just a rumor. It's actually going to be awd.

It would be like a budget Panamera. |

The Camry and Legacy are just plain old sedans; not sporty at all. I'm sure they would say "but the WRX!!" But the WRX is chunky; it's not sleek at all. |

FA30~FA35 won't be happening, but using FA engine technology making H6 engine is highly possible |

that looks like a 2014 wrx hatch and frs had a baby |
Keep in mind the difference in driving characteristics between the 2016 compared to the 2013. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it has been confirmed that the suspension setup of all FR-S/GT86 produced after 2015 are more comparable to the BRZ.

The 1st generation GT86 is such a great car, there's only 3 possibilities for the future: 1. They keep making it as it is, with minor adjustments and cosmetics. 2. They ruin it with something obscene (fwd/awd, hybrid, turbo, ugly facelift, more doors) and the 1st generation will be canonized as the classic GT86. 3. They drop the model and it's forever remembered as one of the greatest driver's cars ever made. In all of these scenarios, buying a nice 2013 GT86 makes you the winner! (And me, since I've got one...) BTW, where in Sweden are you located? |

I have now put a downpayment on the -13 Gt86 and going to pick it up in a week or so. First a trip to NY. |

There's a swedish thread here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8000 I hope you'll enjoy your GT86 as much as I do mine! -Trevligt att hälsa på. Grattis från en norrbagge. |
