Engine Bay Cleaning

I wanted to share this product i've been using to clean my engine. Might not work on heavily soiled ones but for me its been good. No harm to the hoses, plastics or electronics and leaves a nice shine. Its meant for cleaning bikes, I noticed how nice it left my mountain bike so i tried it in my engine bay. Results were Awesome! I live in a Desert area so my engine bay is usually full of sand and looks horrible. With this stuff i air out the engine bay with compressed air then soak everything with this and wipe down....no rinsing. I picked it up at my local Walmart for about $5 Its called " White Lightning Wash & Shine"

I sprayed the 303 all over the engine then leave to dry for 6 hours. Open her up and it looks brand new no need to rub down. If you want a more Matt look then wipe down with a micro fibre. 303 is water based so any sand will rinse off without any effort.

Is it safe on aluminum?

Looks great. Won't it be a dust magnet?

Do you guys have a picture of how you covered some of the electrical components before cleaning?

I don't but it's straight forward. Just use some aluminium cooking foil to make a cover for the parts circled in the pic. Then when you hose down from a vertical position they won't get wet. Just imagine like an umbrella. Attachment 110465

@Foulsmell: your battery is on the wrong side.

In all seriousness, I'm terrified to wash the bay because I fear something will get wet that is not supposed to.

Thanks for sharing. You weren't worried about the oil filter when hosing that down?
