Saw this new commercial on MTV and ESPN a couple of days ago:

I love it!

That is much, much better than some of their hipster inspired crap than they have tried before. Maybe they have finally figured out the type of people (mostly guys) that buy these cars and why.

It only took them 3 years!

I saw. I cringed.

I loved the part where it had plenty of power. Good times.

More power? Mine doesnt have it. Its broken?

That's more like it. The old team that made the previous ones must've got fired.

This is a much better commercial and pleasing actors that represent the target buyers.

It's just a little bit gay though.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

This commercial sucks. Is it trying to appeal to the wannabe-yuppie-frat-hipster?

It's not too bad but the Subaru promos seem to be a lot better at invoking emotion. Like the one where the guy just takes his time driving around and forgets his worries. No words need be said with this car. It's all about the feels. :P

And the Japanese one where the father and son fight but sort of make up over the car. That one kind of hit home for me.

But this Scion ad just seems to play off one very simplistic emotion: envy. The other dude seems surprised when he sees him in the car, asks him about it and is impressed by it. Making people jealous/envious of me and/or my car is not really my goal. Especially when it's other guys. :lol:

I love it haha. Also giggle at the "Has plenty of power" comment. I wonder if they threw that in there just to tease us.
