Custom Bike Rack
Has anyone here built the Custom Bike rack that uses the 2 rods that go into the tow hooks? I looked up the article on here where someone made it with 2 threaded rods m16x1.5 and then mounted either a one up bike rack or yakima boa mounts. I'm thinking about taking on this project and just wanted some input or tips if you've done it.

I've seen it via my friends picture, but have not done it. It's definitely possible, maybe you could make a DIY post !!!

I didn't make mine, but I bought one off the guy on the forum here, and I love it! So I say good luck, you will really enjoy it.

Cool. I contacted the guy on the forum for the specs and info. I have a machine shop that is willing to custom make it for me. I'll let you know how it goes. |

That's the guy I was referring to. Thanks though! |

Sweet! Yes, I'm excited to get one made so I don't have to worry about bending and further scratching my trunk from the trunk mounted racks |
Just a quick update:
I ordered all the parts to complete the project and should have them tomorrow. I will be using 2 factory tow hooks and 2 pieces of steel tubing. The tow hooks will be cut at/near the eye of the hook. Then the threaded section will be welded in the steel tubing, the eye will be welded on the other end of the tubing. I will post some pics once it's complete! |
