[AutoX] NWR-SCCA Novice School May 23rd - Bremerton

**YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER - REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE ON-SITE**

http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/...4#.VUe3D5MyhJt

Hello everyone! There's an SCCA Novice School happening out at Bremerton Motorsports Park on Saturday, May 23rd. This event is likely going to be limited to ONLY 50 ENTRANTS so if you're interested in attending you should sign up soon.

A $60 ($50 if you are already an SCCA annual member) entry includes the following:
  1. 8+ autocross runs with a dedicated instructor.
  2. Free lunch (hotdog / philly cheesesteak + chips & drink).
  3. One free entry to a future NWR-SCCA autocross of your choice (there's one the Sunday after if you want to make a weekend out of it).
  4. A weekend (3 day) SCCA membership which can later be used for a $10 discount on an annual membership.
During the lunch break and at the end of the day the instructors / core workers will be driving their own cars on course and taking passengers. This event is a great opportunity to get into autocross for the first time or get some feedback on how to improve your driving. We have several local & national champion instructors and the course will be designed to teach fundamentals.

The best part of all, though, is that this just the beginning of three days of autocross at Bremerton. There are many cheap and comfortable hotel options in the surrounding area if you want to make a mini vacation out of it. On Sunday, May 24th the SCCA regional event #3 will be happening and then on Monday, May 25th (Memorial Day) there will be a BSCC event.

gtslow 05-08-2015 03:22 PM

I just registered. Forgot about registering early, thanks for reminding me!

Locust 05-12-2015 06:27 PM

18 spots left and 2 weeks to go. I see three BRZs and one FR-S right now. I'm sure there are many of you out there who have been on the fence about racing your vehicles and this is a really safe and fun way to get a taste of it.

I did this event last year in my old stang. Had tons of fun despite the car being out of place at a rainy autocross course. Looking forward to the great run/$ ratio with a car that is fun in the twisties!

Just registered for this, looking forward to my first AutoX!

Awesome! You'll have a blast!!!

Still looking for more people. We've got 15 instructors lined up already and are also looking to get that number up to 25 so if you aren't interested in learning but would like to help out (costs $0 to instruct and you get fun runs at lunch) then you can sign up at the same link.

Honestly don't think an FR-S/BRZ is able to make enough noise for that to be an issue. Our "on course" limit is 95db and the only cars that are breaking that are straight pipe Boss 302's and an 800hp GTR. I also don't know if sound will be measured at the novice school. Bremerton usually poses slightly less of a sound problem because it takes place at an airstrip instead of the center of a small mountain town.

great, that's what i was hoping but without a decibel reader i don't know for certain. I'll be sure to ask around during the lunch break if anyone thought the car was too loud for future events.

very much looking forward to this. :burnrubber:

15 spots left and less than 2 weeks until the event! Come on people this is a great deal and a very safe way to get an introduction to competitive motorsports!

If you have any questions at all feel free to ask.

It rained last year and it was a blast. Just make sure you bring some rain appropriate shoes.

Forecast right now says light showers on Saturday. But with how Washington weather goes that likely means heavy rain storms Friday and a sunny weekend. Right?

I'm driving over in the morning with my neighbor and his son following behind me. Look for the White FR-S parked next to the miata and the crx that look like they should be in the 24 Hours of Lemons!

gtslow 05-22-2015 09:57 PM

I am also really really pumped. Just checked the weather. Only a 10% chance of rain for saturday now!

I'm just driving around, paranoid about the ferry being late or somehow getting stuck on the way. I'll take the ferry back

It was fun watching you drive by while I was out working the cones. I'm sure I looked like a maniac in the stock white FR-S out there. :burnrubber:

Me too man. I was working on the complete opposite side of the course. I heard that a twin went of course and said a little prayer for you. Props for getting back out there and running even after that scare.

Yeah!! That's my car! I was playing around with that last corner a lot. After the last practice run I did I got the car into the 49's on the stock Michelins. I'll have TRD springs on at least for the next event I can run. On the fence about upgrading tires on the stock rims or waiting until some 17x7 rpf1's become available.

If you look really really really closely at the timing van you can almost see us staring at you and talking about how we need to tell you to put your phone away immediately.
