Final update:

Everything is fixed now. (:
I ended up having the fender garnish shaved/welded onto the fenders.

I like it! Never thought much about the garnish but that is slick. First time I have seen it removed.

wow, it looks a lot better IMO with the garnish gone. it just looks so natural you can't even tell lol
