Exhaust Confusion

Can someone break this down for me...I want to get a full exhaust for my BRZ.
Looking around and viewing the diagrams and/or anything I can find (yes through search) I am still confused and I am not sure if I am getting a better understanding or more confused. The diagram has a midpipe, frontpipe, overpipe and the muffler.
Half the time when I search a term above I get hits with multiple names. The list...
Midpipe, overpipe, uppipe, downpipe, crosspipe, crossover, testpipe, trackpipe, delete this or that, catless, catted, high flow cat, resonated, non-resonated.
I think that is most of them. I get last items. Cats and resonator etc, but all the different pipes that I assume are the same. What pieces do I need if I want to buy a complete exhaust system that is ALL 2.5"

Headers, Downpipe/uppipe/overpipe, midpipe, mufflers...Is that correct? I would like to go full catless and all 2.5" so the exhaust is all one size.

If you can help a guy out it would be much appreciated. If all you have to say is "search" please go to another post and do that. I did, it hasn't helped me enough, but it did help to confuse me.

Thank you in advance.

If you get a cat back exhaust all you need then is the front pipe and over pipe if I understand correctly. When you get the cat back you replace the mid pipe and muffler section.

I was confused as well when I first got my car. I was used to downpipes and midpipes since that's what my old car had. however, for a full exhaust for this car you will need headers, front pipe, overpipe, and a catback. catbacks come with the midpipe and muffler, but don't get it confused with an axleback, which only comes with the muffler.

the exhaust is as follows;

Header ->frontpipe->overpipe->midpipe->muffler.

Frontpipe + overpipe =downpipe

Catback = midpipe + muffler

Header back = header + frontpipe + overpipe + catback

Frontpipe and overpipe might be switched, i cant remember.

Thank you!

Thank you all so much! I thought this was the case, but all the terms you run into, omg! I thought the midpipe came with it, but again got lost after reading too much into it.
I may replace the mid pipe, because I want to have a catless option too (in case I wanna be real obnoxious, jk). In time, I think I will get the berk test pipe since it's not too expensive.

Thanks again!

midpipe does not have the cat. the front pipe has the cat, and the header has the cat. the midpipe might have a resonator though, depending on which catback you get.

That's what I kept going back to, but when I would search each part I'd get 3 names for each piece so wanted to get some clarification from forum.
