17x9 245/40 question

Why isn't all my tire on the ground. The inside isn't as bad. Is it camber adjustment or 32lbs of air too much air for this size tire on this light of a car? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question to most. I'm a truck guy that just bought this car and I don,t much about putting biggar tires on little cars.
Thank you

or is it because the tire is slightly stretched

Over inflation?

Camber. 32 psi isnt that much. Factory specs is 36psi.

245 won't be stretched on 9" (roughly 225mm) wide wheels. what's your camber settings at?

predator800 05-03-2015 03:20 AM

Camber is at factory setting. Car as 2000kms on it

If this really is an issue you buy some aftermarket Lucas and set rear camber to zero. You'll be ok in a straight line but turning will be hell

it might be the angle of the picture, but are you sure that tire is 245/40? it doesn't look like it.

Not really an issue if this is normal for this size tire on this car. I'm just trying to make sure I'm running the car properly. This is the back tire. The front seem ok with 32lbs.

I would assume this is normal since you bought a wider tire than the rim itself so it's not effectively using the entire surface area. I would guess under loads like cornering, it would flex a little and use more of the side area. I'm not an expert in this though so take it with a grain of salt.

It's normal and fine.

As long as the other side shows the same wear patterns, you have no issue.

Yes both sides are the same.

Should I pump them back up to the suggest 35 pounds that marked in the door post or leaving them at 32 is ok.

Thanks for everyone's reply.

As you corner more aggressively you'll find you use that part of the tire. With factory front camber you may have trouble doing that, but a good race alignment has even more camber all around (and more in front than in back)
