Might just be me,just want to make sure
Ok,
New to the realm of FT86/AE86/BRZ/FRS.... I've had my BRZ for a week now, and its auto (so be nice) anyways, for my fellow auto guys, does your 1/2/3 shifts quick in normal mode? what rpm range does your shift at? also does yours sometimes coming to a stop down shift, and almost stall? for me, or it could just be me, they are quick. I'll try to post a video before I go to the dealer and look like a fool lol. But off to work right now, and will try to get that vid later today. |
The shift points RPMs and speeds should be in the manual (don't have it here right now). If you go through it a pile of the basic questions will be answered. The almost stall part doesn't sound right though. There was an ECU reflash for the 13s that yours may not have got.

I am assuming normal mode means: NO SPORT, NO SNOW, NO VSC
Shifting, yes, they are pretty fast, no TQ converter laziness, not sure what you mean. In "normal" mode, the RPM shift point depends on the throttle position. Just rolling around town? Thing shifts way too early, like 2000 RPM. If you're giving it the beans, well, it shifts higher. If you're on the brake while slowing down to a stop, I don't feel any stalling. The tranny eases down but doesn't engage any gears while you apply the brakes, just like any old A/T tranny |
Shifting speed depends on how much foot you put into the gas pedal. I'm really pretty happy with the auto in it's regular old drive setting. Course, at 63, you can imagine what sort of autos I've had to deal with before.
There are times I get an RPM drop and slight shudder at the first stop sign I hit when I first head out. I don't pay it any mind and just go. I'll wait until it actually stalls on me before I freak out. |
Ok on my break I'll grab the manual and see and will call subaru about the flash. Will keep ya posted and thanks for the help.

They said they will plug it in and see, so that's an option when I get the time off. Thanks again for your help. back to reading threw this place, lots of info to take in.

Do you use the AC?
Its normal for the rpms to dip while idling, because the compressor turns on and off. But could you clarify the rpms it reaches when it feels like its about to stall? I've kind of noticed this issue when my AC isnt on. When I come to a stop the running lights will dim almost off as my rpms dip. This happened when I was on a factory tune (not updated), and still happens occasionally on my OFT tune. |
