Rockford Fosgates 6.5" Fit ?
Was about to buy some Rockford Fosgate Fanatic X FNX-2614's 6.5" for my 86 then had the thought that they might not fit the front doors due to depth or some thing like that and did a search but no luck.
Does anyone know whether they do or not :iono: Thanks |
The mounting depth of the FNX-2614's are only 2-9/16 inches, so they'll fit no problem (with about 4 inches to spare). You'll need some sort of adapter for the hole however, like you would with any other 6.5 inch.

I have these in my car. And I had to get [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NWCIEG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]this[/ame] adapter and [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BBP7Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]this[/ame] wiring adapter. The wiring adapter actually had the wrong size ends on it, but I had some fittings at home to replace them with to get them to work. Of course you can just cut the factory harness if you want as well..

Just wondering have you got them hooked up to the oem head unit and how's the sound quality ? |
Since the door speakers in the US are running bass only (through a lo-pass filter) off the amp in the back, when I originally put them in it wasn't that much of an improvement. But I have since disconnected the rear speakers and am sending them a full range signal from those. Next up is to get an AVIC line Pioneer deck to use them properly.
The speakers themselves were referred to me by a friend who makes a living installing home audio and has been in the car audio world for a long time as well. I have no doubt they will serve their purpose of being a great mid range speaker. |
The speakers have arrived and as I have the GT model I believe it doesn't have an amp so was wondering if I can just install the door speakers atm without worrying about the crossovers.
Will put some Dynomat in the doors as I believe this to be a good thing to do while I'm at it . How big a piece would one need to put behind the speaker . :iono: |
Should be good to go! You won't hurt anything by putting them in.

This reminds me that I need to do my wife's Pathfinder. When she uses the handsfree, you can hear the conversation from outside: the outer skin acts like a bigass passive radiator. |
