Mutual Respect

Hey guys, I've had an account for awhile now, but never really posted. This may be a little newb-ish for me to say, but I just recently realized the respect gained from others on the road when they see your 86. I live on Long Island and the weather just got better for taking her out, so I did, also noticing other nice cars like the new mustang and some genesis coupes. But the point I'm getting at is the mutual respect that others give you; getting a few head nods and compliments. It's not always about a race, sometimes it's just simple appreciation of the ride.

Life is easier if you don't worry at all about others opinions!

Most car enthusiasts knew what make the 86 special in its own ways. It's "the little engine that could", in an age of high horse power and pure brute force is everything.

Get respect from all makes and models except Civics. Not that I care as they zoom by. I just bump some reggae and lean like a cholo in my car. Cruise control 60mph baby, im in it for the ride.

He's not even complaining what other people think nor is he worrying. I thought your reading comprehension was superior to mine.

I've never seen anything of those movies other than promos or 'tube clips. Seems my opinion that they all suck is not wrong. Dude threatened to beat my ass because I didn't know who Paul Walker was.

Not all the time. But I would argue that "but the point I'm getting at is the mutual respect that others give you; getting a few head nods and compliments. It's not always about a race, sometimes it's just simple appreciation of the ride" indicates OP cares what others think of his ride.

I found since I boosted my car, changed the exhaust and added a diffuser/lip a lot more people seem to appreciate my car.

I wouldn't say I don't care about other's opinions because it is nice to get a few head nods and compliments, I mean, everyone likes to get compliments once in awhile, but it's not like it's everything. Yeah, sometimes there's a negative comment around the corner, but it wouldn't change the way I feel about my car. I bought her for a reason, for myself, not for any one else. Not trying to live by other's approval, if I were, I wouldn't be living my own life, if you get me.

A lot more "Car people" maybe. Joe citizen that sees you drive by on the street does not know nor care about what you did to it. To them it is just pretty.
