Popping sound after cam plate install
1 Attachment(s)
So I installed a Nameless cam plate as the warranty fix for the leak wasn't working out.
After putting it in, I went on a drive and there was a low, noticeable popping sound. It doesn't appear to be knocking/pinging. Sort of like the top to a pot of boiling water, but regular varying with engine RPM. Oddest thing is that I can't replicate it at a stand-still; it manifests above 35MPH. I may have installed the cam plate incorrectly, so I've attached a pic of it as it currently sits below. The oil is no longer dripping but should the o-ring be visible like that? For reference, the provided o-ring was not small enough to seat in the cutout on the plate. Attachment 107440 I remounted the plate a few minutes ago (appears the same as above) and will be checking the exhaust flanges to make sure it's not coming from a leak I wasn't aware of. A second test drive will ensue afterward to see if the popping returns. Apologies ahead of time if I don't reply quickly. |
So good news, test drive was clean. no noise.
I apparently can't install something as simple as a cam plate right on the first go hahaha. In other news, when I got out after the drive to check for drips I hear the dreaded cricket noise. well screw me hahaha |
