OFT tuning opportunity

The Dallas guys are putting together a dyno tuning event for Shiv to tune some cars. If you have the OFT, it's a great opportunity for you to have the man himself tune your car!

How friendly is HST at Hallett for someone who has no racing experience? Looking at possibly signing up for HST on the 24th

They are known to be quite friendly towards newcomers. Most tracks really try to be. Anyways, I have run on a few other tracks but I will be a first timer at Hallett this Saturday. I wont be running a BRZ/FRS, cause I sold mine recently. But I will be up there in my Boxster. If you do head up there, either to watch or run, come over and say hello. My name is Mike.

There will be a lot for you to check out up there this weekend.

Enhanced Motorsports is going to be putting on AX sessions out at the Sheriffs track in OKC. Come on out. Details are below.

Funding secured! We will have private use of the Sheriff Training Center to host EMP Autocross Events starting in April. (In NE OKC off I-35)

Save these dates on your calendar for future reference:
* April 16th Saturday
* June 18th Saturday
* Aug 28th Sunday
* October 15th Saturday
* December 18th Sunday

$40/driver, $10 passengers welcome. Taking ideas and suggestions on things you want to do that other car clubs don't. Please send your ideas. Some examples are:
* Skid Pad - how fast can you go in a circle before your car slides out? Measure G-force #
* braking skills - stop consistently in a stop box
* multiple laps each turn - 2-3 laps with each turn
* skills clinics - left foot braking, understeer, oversteer, heel/toe
* launch control for eligible cars
* high speed reverse 180 spin like in the movies
* passenger videos of things that jiggle

Start at 10AM
Maybe food truck for lunch
18yrs or older for drivers

For those that don't know, Autocross events are usually done in parking lots using cones to layout a course. We have private use of a Sheriff Training Track. This track allows higher speeds than most auto-crosses....and usually requires adding cones to slow things down.

More updates later as event dates draw near.

Well the first EMP autocross will be this Saturday. It will be ran a little different than the car club autocrosses. We will be running single laps like usual for this first time. In the future we may do multiple laps. It is still at the Sheriffs track, like BMW or Porsche club.

Each driver will get 8 (maybe 10) single laps. We will have a skidpad in the middle of the course, and a brake box at the end. Strange enough we are starting the AX at 2pm, with a final sign up cut off at 2:45pm. The track will be hot by 3pm. I dont expect a ton of cars this first time out. But I imagine we will be completed by 6 or 7pm.

Please come on out. It is $40 compared to $30 for most of the car clubs. But, EMP is looking to bring a little more to their AX days than the car clubs can. If you have any questions please let me know.

Also, I run an E85 content analyzer on my car now. And, i have been trying E85 from different stations.

I have noticed a constant trend of stations being well below E85. Some as low as E50 (which is technically legal) , which i find to be horsesh@t. The OnCue stations which i have always liked have been between E62 to E58. I am not happy with that, but i do still frequent them.

The best station so far that i have been to is RS Fuels up on Memorial. I have had them anywhere from E76 to E82. Plus they offer E100 if you have the need for that.

I will keep sharing what i learn. With most tunes there is likely no benefit to being above E75. Again, for most tunes. But if you have E50 or E60 in your tank then technically you are leaving power on the table. So, not only is the 91 here in the state of OKlahoma also some of the worst gas i have had to use for tuning (only Cali gas is worse), the E85 here is also suspect at several stations.

In Texas, the gas always allow for more timing advance. Also the two E85 fill ups i did down there showed E77 and E82 at the E85 pump. Anyways, just wanted to share to those who care.

(Here is the official EMP AX email)

EMP Drivers and Guests,

Our first local Sheriffs Track event will take place this Saturday. For beginners to experts, I have planned for this event to cater to the whole family. Bring chairs, snacks, coolers etc... Please forward the attached invite to your car friends. Special thanks to Brian Swope and Mike Holtgrieve for their support to arrive early, help designing and setting up the course.

For those that haven't caught up on emails, here are some fun facts about our Track Federation event series:

Point System: Season end EMP Dinner and Trophy Presentation to overall winner:
* 5 points for participating
* 20 points for Fastest Time of Day (FTD) = 1st place
* 15 points for 2nd place
* 10 points for 3rd place
* 5 points for 4th place
* 1 point for 5th place

Tire Treadware Rating:
* 1.5 second penalty for "A" rated autocross tires. Added onto your recorded timed run.
* 1 second penalty for "R" rated tires. Added onto your recorded timed run.
* No penalty for 200 treadware or higher

Event logistics:
Everyone should arrive by 2:15PM. Registration is $40/driver and $10/passenger. Everyone must sign the liability waiver at registration. We will probably divide up into two groups. The first group will line up in single file. Everyone will get 3 sessions consisting of 2 consecutive laps per turn. The next group will line up and complete their 3 sessions of 2 consecutive laps per turn. I hope to repeat this process for another 3 sessions per group. Your final run, 6th session, will consist of your timed lap and recorded lap time for the record books. Aside from working on the skillsets I have designed, this added component of a lap time mirrors what race drivers have to do in qualifying for a race.....trying to put down their best lap without making mistakes. I like this more for the "learning and education" aspect.

Drivers meeting at 2:45PM is mandatory: Registartion closes when meeting starts.
* 100' skidpad - universal standard for recording G-loads. 3 continuous circles.
* Left foot braking, throttle position, correcting understeer/oversteer will be addressed
* Stop Box Finish - mastering threshold braking and learning your cars limits

Where is Sheriffs Track?:
* East of I-35 on NE 36th street
* Head East a few miles and Sheriffs Track entrance is on your left. Easy to miss.
* If you get to railroad tracks, you just passed it
* watch your speed after exit I-35. SPEED TRAPS 35mph.

Thanks to the 8 or 10 who said the are coming. Hope more can make it.
