Lost all tunes

So...my comp hard drive seized and I lost everything. The good news, the OFT wasn't hooked up at the time. The bad news, it only had OTS tunes on it because I was going to test run it and see the changes that were made from OTS to my 1.13.4 tune.

Question: How do I reverse engineer those tunes using Datazap.ME?

I've not been able to get a hold on the tuner who helped me and I really miss my 1.13.4 tune. Why it wasn't perfect it was a lot better in feel than the OTS 1.53 tune since my snorkle is cut.

Unless you uploaded pics to datazap, all it's going to have are logs, and logs can't be reverse engineered to tunes. Since you cut your snorkle, you changed the pressure balance between intake and exhaust, so that points to changes in the AVCS tables causing it to feel better/worse. Since the 2.06 OTS tunes have more changes to the AVCS tables than previous versions, I would suggest starting there.

Thanks. I tried there, but my pistons tell knock knock jokes on 2.06. :(

I am trying to get access to another snorkle but looks like I am just buying from the dealer.

How are you seeing piston knock? Do you have any other intake or exhaust mods? If your IAM is dropping after loading a tune, just load a tune for lower octane. There are at least 4 tunes in 2.06 you can use. Have you tried them all? There is going to be some knock in any good tune, so long as it doesn't lower the IAM you're all right.

When I was using the 91 oct tune (Being we do not have 93 out here and I cannot afford to run 100 oct on the daily) I am seeing IAM drop to .71. In addition, FKLC and FBKC numbers are showing I likely have knock. Lastly, the last time I ran that tune, my CEL for knock triggered.

Check out the following forum. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56810 It's called "why does my IAM keep dropping". This will give you the information, or the right people to PM, to put together a tune that won't knock enough to drop the IAM. I guess I'm lucky. I can fill up at the local Arco with 92 octane running 91 tunes my IAM never drops below 1. I probably need to increase my timing I guess, until I get knock.

@Celadrielas Have you tried drive recovery software? I vote Recuva, have had stellar results from the program from both FAT and NTFS

Kool I won't be sarcastic with you since you seem to not be a troll afterall.. the v2.06 tunes have very aggressive primary OL tables for starters compared to the v1.53 counterparts, which all else considered is the source of his knock. Both a maf rescale and adjustment of the POL tables can often help out in this situation, @steve99 can comment further on the specific differences

So I looked into this after I got this message and sadly, it's all gone. Thankfully, I had the original tunes the OFT came with on my laptop, but part of the issue was that I wasn't my laptop in the first place. (It's older) When tuning, I was using my desktop to write the tunes, then uploading them to the vehicle, drive-testing the tunes, the sitting back down at the desk to patch, fix, and modify. I emailed all of my tunes to a user here because he was curious how my progress was, but I get no reply from him and the tuner who was helping me is SUUUUPER busy, so that's just a thing to contend with. He was doing me a huge favor to help me out in the first place and I am not trying to come across as "expecting" anything from anyone since everyone here has been so great in helping me learn and write.

I'm in escrow with the purchase of a home and planning a wedding so I've not been a bit slow to respond to everyone, but thanks to everyone for the help with this issue.

I'll rescale and knock correct your map for you. Load up a v2.06 of your fuel choice and do 3-4 logs using the necessary parameters and try to nail down at least 1 closed loop mixed driving, 1 closed and open loop mixed driving, 1 hwy cruising, and as many 3rd and 4th 2k-redline WOT runs as you're comfortable with.

If you're signfiicantly knocking (IAM is dropping less than ~ .83) don't bother with the wot runs. let me know if I can help

Right on. I will load up 2.06 tonight and try record a regular run of closed loop for you. Tomorrow I will do some WOT pulls in 3rd, but I don't have a safe space to 4th gear through 7k. I really appreciate your help.

If you want to learn how to do this yourself, check out this thread. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86854

I was in the process of learning it before I started on buying a house and planning my wedding. I absolutely want to learn how to do this though, so I will HAPPILY read that link. Thank you :)

Kool you're almost there.. these are the threads that contain info on how to appropriately use RomRaider, OFT, and a scaling spreadsheet (VGI's program is the one of choice in these threads) to rescale one's MAF
