The only assembly necessary when you get the unit is to hook up the hydraulic lines and fill the pump with ATF. You also have to put some air pressure in the pneumatic strut that helps lower the jack when you push the "down" button. Takes less than an hour. It is also fairly easy to move around. If you are just moving 10-50 feet, you don't need to disconnect anything and can just drag it. If you are putting it in your car and taking it somewhere, use the quick disconnect fittings to remove the hydraulic lines from the lift units, then connect them back when you get to your destination.

Bendpak has a new version called the BL-5000XL which is a little longer than the regular version. This one reaches 60" between the lift pads. I've not had any issues with the regular version, but if I was buying new, the XL is probably the way to go.

I looked at that lift but decided it was much better to be able to get under the car. With a maximum lift of 48 in. and a rated 6,000 lb. it works in most garages. (the lift ratting is dependent on the floor strength.)
It was on sale by Costco for about 2,000.

That unit is in a different league as I am sure the installation costs are significant. Besides, most people don't have the headroom in their garage for something like that.

This is a DIY install, there are 5 anchors for each post. Drill 10 holes, drive the anchors in and bolt down the posts.
Measure the distance from the top of the car to the ceiling and you will know how high you can lift. The low bay in my garage is 7 ft.
You should be able to get at least 36 in. and with 8 ft. 48in should be possible.

It is portable. A second set of anchors will go in the high bay for full size cars.
It is even possible to put the unit outside if you have a concrete driveway.
It maybe necessary to back the car into the garage to clear the door opener, unless you have an opener like the Chamberlin 3800 shaft drive.
I put it in the low bay because the little car would be on the lift for several weeks as I pulled out all the wiring in and under the car.

All valid, and quite a bit can be mitigated as well with a high lift garage door kit as well as having a post-tension slab and the cables mapped out. Common holdbacks are people that rent or move every few years or not having a thick enough concrete slab.

portable to take at track?

They make a 12v version for that. Personally I'll stick with the 110v version for the home.

I have the 12v version of the BL-3500. Yes, they advertise it as portable and that you can take it to the track, but in reality, mine has never left the garage. Each rail is about 50 lbs and the pump is another 20-30 lbs, then you have the hoses. Yes, you can pack it all into the car, but it's not practical to take to the track unless you have a trailer.

@cnk, when you receive yours, did you have to unload it yourself to your driveway?
It's like 200 lb on wooden pallet and they'll charge extra if i dont have my own equipment to unload? i am thinking about purchasing 5000 soon
