Awesome thanks for the help. I've been wanting to do this since I bought this car.

It was great to talk to a fellow 86-er at the track. I hope to see you later in the year, too. How was your car at the end of the day?

By the way, let me know if you post any of your GoPro video, I would love to see it.

There was a professional photographer there and I got his card. He was taking photos of us going down the straight together...I will see if I can get them, but it may take a couple of weeks.

Cheers!

Had a great time...what a great bunch of people. Just did not realize how track capable this car is...much better handling than my previous SI. I was watching some of your runs...you looked quick! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed your experience, and your dead right the car is far more capable than you can experience on the street. Wished I'd had more time to talk with you, but our schedules didn't mess very well. Thanks I actually set a personal best yesterday, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. Hope to see you out there again.

I will definitely be back at the track one more time this year...not sure when, but maybe ORP again in October, if they keep the event.

I got a decent bit of video from outside the car but I still have to go through and edit it a bit. I got one video up, it's unedited and it started about half way through a lap but it's all I have up until I can go through the rest.

Let me know if you get any of those pictures, my wife saw the photographer running around but we didn't get a card. I'll let you know when I get the rest of it up. We got a couple of pictures of your car too so I'll let you know when I get everything up.

I'm still recovering. :)

3 days at ORP is exhausting. I spent all of Friday working on the car in between sessions chasing an alignment gremlin but it paid off. Unfortunately while I saw all the 86's out there I only got a chance to talk to one y'all. (Bob right?)

@rice_classic sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. How did your races go? What did you think about CCW? I'm probably one of the few that has more experience CCW than CW. I really enjoy the track regardless of direction.

Well, I hope to meet you at another event. I'm racing down at PIR in two weeks (June 6th and 7th) and it looks like Cascade might also be doing a lapping day/driver's school that Friday (the 5th) so if you're there for track time we can chat because I'll be rolling in Friday afternoon to setup.

Track day: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...1#.VPm92vnF98E

Thoughts on ORP CCW:

1: Too many off-camber-downhill turns for my taste (3 per lap). When running CW, those are off-camber-uphill turns and I get greater enjoyment when working against gravity as opposed to being captive by it. This, however, is entirely subjective to each driver. Opinions in the paddock are very split on this btw.

2: I don't think it "races" as well in CCW. I think initiating a pass, either a better exit or late brake is done more readily and there are more opportunities in the CW direction. I also think CW is safer to race but that's strictly opinion, no data to support it.

From a driving-for-fun perspective, I love it in both directions but strictly looking at it from a racing perspective I don't like CCW as much and if the TC race weekend is CCW next year I may choose to skip it unless I really need the points for a championship run. For me ORP is an expensive weekend. Probably spent $1300 this weekend, not counting the wear and tear on the car/tires/brakes etc.

However, this guy spent a few $$$ than I did when is brakes failed at 100mph. (BTW: that Orange CRX in the video is me)

I may stop by to say hello, but I probably won't be participating in that event. I'm not the biggest fan of PIR. There's a lapping day at The Ridge I may be attending the following weekend.

As a track day guy I'm a little more partial to CCW. That may be because I'm a bit faster that direction. As you say racing is a different kettle of fish.

Thanks for sharing the video. Certainly does point out how important it is to make sure all systems are operating properly. Valkyrie Hill is the fastest part of the track going CCW, not a good place to lose the brakes!

Yeah that was me. That's crazy about that Z car but I'm really digging that class that your in, it would be fun to get a dedicated track car for that class. Definitely one of the best time's I've ever had in my car, that track was really fun too.
