Dealer trade fee?

A dealer said they were able to trade a Firestorm they had for a Hot Lava from another dealer, since that is what I wanted, but they said there would be a "dealer transfer fee" of $300. Is this normal, or are they pulling a fast one on me? Thanks!

They probably are incurring a cost to physically move the vehicle, transporter trucks aren't free. But, I say just go to the other dealer ... what is it going to cost you in gas?

Asked them where it is and the salesman said he didn't know where it was exactly, but far enough to require a transporter since they usually send a driver for closer trades.

I don't mind paying the fee as long as it's something that's normal. Just wanted to make sure that this wasn't out of the ordinary.

that would mean a few hundred miles on your new car driven by someone you don't know. i bet you they know where it is, just afraid to tell you since you can fly there and buy it yourself.

Yeah, oh well. It's Round Rock Toyota. They've been pretty good to me and I haven't heard anything bad about them, so I'll trust them.

I talked to a few dealers about this as well, it does cost them money to get the car there, this all depends on distance though. If they are having it brought in on truck that doesn't sound like a bad deal.

I don't charge Scion's dealer trade fees. Only Toyota's, and all that means is i'm not going to discount the car as much because I have to pay a driver to bring the car here.

They have an Argento manual don't they? If so, how many miles are on it?

Which is why it's better in many cases for the customer to go get it. Assuming they have the time and a ride there.

I love long drives from the purchase dealer, you get your break-in done sooner.

i have a friend that is a car transporter for a dealership, and his only job is to drive from dealership to dealership, so i guess they have to pay these guys some how. even though he gets paid hourly and not commission. last time i talked to him he said he was doing 100mph+ from San Antonio to Houston, and im pretty sure he drives the cars like he stole them.

Why would he drive fast if he gets paid hourly? :P
