FT86 II Concept BODY KIT

Hey there guys. Ever since the FT-86 II concept released i have been hooked with the look of that car. The current 86/FR-S still looks good, don't get me wrong, but the concept looked FAR better.

Looking into the panels of the 86/FR-S, everything is roughly around the same dimentions as the concept. My guess is that if a aftermarket company was to take notice of this design and if there are enough people interested in it, your car could look like the far more agressive FT-86 II concept.
Of course it would be pricey, but hey im willing ot pay for something like that.

Below are some comparisons and designs i came up with to convert the front end (so far). Would YOU buy this kit if it were available? What are your thoughts?

I pointed out what needs to be changed in the front bumper so that it just attatches on. Headlights would need to be replaced also.

And did the best i can to swap the front bumper, given the slighly different angles of the two photos...

hell, if I just got these 3 things, I'd be super happy :) That's the way the car should have left factory IMHO. The vent on the side of the stock car leaves something to be desired.

As far as developing a full body kit to match the concept, I'm not sure it'd be the same quality as coming from factory and might look ricey for sure. The gaps inbetween fenders would drive me nuts, lol. Unless of course, the project was funded right, and they were able to produce a high quality product, then maybe I could see it as being worth it.

Otherwise, it'd just look like an overweight woman trying to fit into some jeans that clearly weren't meant for her. The jeans might look good themselves, but when she's wearing them, she has all kinds of rolls. How's that for an image?

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, quality is my concern.

hahaha agreed, thats why im prepared to pay a high price for something that would be done properly. So far all the body kits I am seeing are looking way too rice :barf:

i like the idea, but seeing the superimpose picture i don’t think the hybrid will look nearly as nice.

One of the key factor for the concept is the contour of the front fender. if you look carefully, the arc over the suspension for the concept car have sharp transition curve where as the production have smooth curve. the sharp curve makes the car looks skinny and slick from the front even when the bottom is flaring outward. in addition, the hood profile is trapezoidal shape which makes the illusion of a longer engine bay. Both features gives it an aggressive stance w/o adding too much bulk on the bottom.

meanwhile, the production hood have a relatively square shape which soft fender line. By adding the concept body kit with lights would only make the car look unnecessarily wide on the bottom with design disagreements between the soft and sharp curves.

Those LEDs still annoy me lol

Give me the FR-S concept! I still drool over it... :(

Anyone else notice the strinking resemblance of the type II's front to the TRD kit?

..... The FRS is now closed to be doable job to look as good as the FT86 concept II with available aftermarket parts. There is availabe LED strips on the market can be used to run at the front bumper edges, and I'm sure the side vent will be available soon. Finally we will have an mini aston FT86 ! :)

Also, the side skirts are almost like the TRD kit with its black extensions.

I was never a fan of this concept. The production model is one of those rare cases where it actually looks better than the concept. Now the FR-S concept is another story.

yea i noticed something wasnt't right when i swapped it over, it could be the photoshopping with different photo angles or it could be the bumper itself. Im just saying if something was to even come close with some compramises to suit the body of the car, then i would be over the mood. It just has to look nice and right to me :)

the hood-line on the FT86 II Concept is soo beautiful lol.

Sasquachulator 06-14-2012 03:33 AM

The front end with the fang looking black surrounding the airdam is i think similar to what is found in that unnamed TRD nurburgring spec kit with the big wing, and the side skirts look similar to the other TRD kit (with the quad exhaust tips)

Front end itself is more or less the same, with the noticeable headlight shape (square/triangular on the concept, round on the production).

So i would guess that TRD nur spec front end with the BRZ wing (since it kind of looks like it, just a bit bigger) and the side skirts from the more known TRD package would probably get you close to the look of the concept.

The fender vents would be alot more awesome if it was like the concept (it also looks BMW M3ish and functional), and the hoodline would be better if it was more like the LFA, or the first FT86 concept.

We already have the 5 axis lip kit that resembles the FR-S concept... now we need the crazy hood/bumper vent

100% agree on your 3 changes
