Funny Cop Encounter

I decided to walk home from a brother's house yesterday after a few beers. I'm not drunk or anything just buzzing. It's late around 10 pm and the neighbors's pretty much silent. A cop on patrol drove passed me about two blocks away, turned back around and flashed me.

Cop: "Sir, where are you going?"
Me: "I'm walking home from my brother's house"
Cop: "Do you know your brother's address?"
Me: "Hmmm no, but his house is just right over there" I pointed to where my bro's house is.
Cop: "Do you live around here?"
Me: "Yes"
Cop: "What is your address?"
Me: "213 blah blah blah. It's just a few blocks down the road from here"
Cop: "Can I see your ID?"

Handed over my ID, she looked at me for about 10 seconds and handed it back.

Out of no where:

Cop: "Have you been in a fight?"
Me: "Hmmm no"
Cop: "I was looking for somebody that has been in a fight and you looked similar to the descriptions"
Me: "Hmmm ok.."

No more question after that and she drove off. Wonder what might happened if she should found out I have been drinking and buzzing...

She would not have cared as long as you weren't visibly intoxicated. Just be polite and respectful. You have no idea what these people have to deal with. They are at work doing what they have to just like the rest of us. It only takes one nosy person to call in a fight and they have to send someone out to look into it.
I have had numerous experiences with police during traffic stops, and I have only ever had to deal with 1 who didn't deserve his job.

Got nothing against that cop for pulling me over. I answered her questions respectfully without being an ass. I live in a fairly safe division with hardly any kind of crime. I'm glad they're out patrolling doing their job and keeping the neighborhood safe 24/7.

Oh yeah, being a 5' tall Asian guy is probably what saved me a whole lot of questioning. Especially you're out walking around at midnight in the dark.

Should have been incredibly sarcastic and told her youve been in a few tussles in your day. probably on the short list of things not to say while buzzed in front of a cop hahah

I was waiting for her to ask whether I have been drinking or not because she smell alcohol. Lol

I would've been cuffed on the spot if I was driving though. No doubt.

I'm only assuming you aren't black, otherwise we'd be reading about you on the news somewhere...

Personally I wouldn't have answered any questions; you're well within your rights to not have to do so if you're walking

Pkush 04-07-2015 03:05 PM

I'm going assuming you are illiterate because a few posts up it clearly says Asian. These "black jokes" are getting boring and annoying.

Wouldn't exactly refer to them as jokes, unless you find it hilarious innocent people are dying at the hands of police officers.

Pkush 04-07-2015 03:24 PM

I've heard about more innocent people dying at the hands of thugs and gangs than at the hands of police officers. Unless all you listen to is media that praises Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin as martyrs.

Being innocent doesn't entitle you to be a jackass. Which is exactly why there is so much unnecessary conflict to begin with in many situations involving an officer. If you're innocent you should have nothing to hide and an officer will clearly see that if you comply with their instructions.

This whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing really needs to be changed to "guilty until proven innocent".
