Dealer service departments that suck seem to be more common than ones that are good.

I vote no. Avoid the dealer at all costs. Too many bad experiences for me, across multiple dealers.

Yes I have crickets. Had them since 2500kms. They never really bothered me much if at all. Just learned to deal with it. But it does suck that my first brand new car sounds worse than the 1995 beater Honda Civic it replaced. My car is just over 56000kms and the warranty expires at 60000kms. Decisions decisions... like one person said, the hard part is finding a good service department. The dealer I serviced with couldn't even get my oil changes right!!!

Tony's point about having it on record swayed me a little. I've never had a single professional service experience that has worked out well. Literally every single time someone over-torqued something, left something off. Misdiagnosed the problem. Each time I went against my instinct and it has bitten me in the ass.

If it helps to clarify my argument against replacement, if mine ever failed. I would find a perfectly good chirpy used one and replace it myself. That's just me.

I do feel your pain.

I did it at @57,000 miles, only because that means I reset the clock on the hpfp. I couldn't tell you if I did or did not have crickets, but apparently the dealership thought I did enough to cover it.

I would say its up to you. I keep a car until the bitter end so for me it made sense. If I was going to trade it in in the next couple of years, I wouldn't have bothered.

That's like asking if you should wash and detail your car even if there's a rainstorm coming tomorrow.

Dealer swapped mine twice. Made zero difference (crickets went away for 2-7 days each time, MAX).

I didn't even think about having them in there (needlessly) and possibly screwing something up while they were doing it. Nothing seems to have happened, but if it did?

I'd say hold off - almost nobody actually has a defective HPFP, just let your roll.

My car runs great except for the odd hard start. I am swaying towards just keeping what I have. The car is essentially problem free. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is the old saying. But I do like the thought of resetting the clock for a new pump on the dealer's dime because I plan to keep this car till the wheels fall off.

Is it possible to keep the "defective" fp? For iuno, as a "keepsake"? Lol.

Here's the problem with this inquiry. If the fuel pump is BAD as diagnosed by the dealership .... then it should be replaced. The fuel pump is either faulty or not faulty. Were you told that the fuel pump needed replacement? Or did you hear it HERE that it needed replacement?

Briefly talked with a service advisor and mentioned that my car chirps. They said they will replace it if still under warranty. Now the ball is in my end.

Technically, its not bad or faulty, just noisy. I've not seen any reports of actual mechanical failures , and I suspect the pump would run through an average service life with "real" issues.
