Temperature inside car

Hey guys,
Came to this forum to find info about my car BEFORE i bought it and love that i picked up a BRZ! So thanks for all the guidance and NON hostile environment.

Question: I live in Phoenix, Arizona and it's not yet summer, but already i'm noticing the car inside gets REALLY hot REALLY fast. Has anyone else felt the same thing? I have complete tint on the car, ceramic 80% on the front windshield along with 20%/35% IR film everywhere else. Could be that it's a tiny car with 2 BIG windows?

Thanks guys.

It's a small interior as well, so it heats up quickly. Black dashboard and seats don't do it any favors. Sunshades help a lot though, so get one that's fitted for the front windshield and it'll help lower temperatures a lot.

If you mean while driving Probably need to turn recirculation on if you haven't. Some heat still comes from the vents and you'll really notice in the summer.

I think because your scalp is very close to the ceiling

I use a covercraft sun shade and it works wonders.

Yep, that's the one I use too. I believe they also make the Subaru OEM sunshade; only difference is the OEM one comes with a bag and has the Subaru logo on it.

awesome, thanks guys. Ya it's when i come back to the car after it sitting for a few hours. I drive around to clients for a living so it's "in and out" of the car a lot. You think any sound deadening/insulation, especially on the roof, would help?

Louvers keep the car noticeably cooler

This is one of the reasons to use the auto climate control.

Sunshade across windshield helps A TON when parked. Keep a window cracked open if safe area. Buy a quality sunshade, not a cheap see through one.

The back window allows the sun to bake in too - if its really bad and tint isn't helping, try louvers.

I try to park facing the sun and use my OEM sunshade. Helps a ton.

If you are talking about heat coming from the vents when the fan, heater, and A/C is off, that's because the last setting before you turned it off was set to a high temperature.

Turn it back on, lower the temp to MIN, wait several seconds, then turn the system off.

i get tons of engine heat in mine if the a/c isn't on recirc. air or not

Not surprised since we are talking about plenty of glass + black interior. Sure fire formula for a hot car.

As others have said, when parked about the only solution is a windshield screen, tint and if you can afford them, louvers. The back glass is as big an area as the front so its a huge contributor.

You can also get the window edge thingies (don't know what they are called) that let you leave the windows cracked but prevent easy entry by weather or persons to the car.
