Foot pain while braking hard?

Not sure if this is the place for it, but has anyone noticed their right foot cramping just after the ball of the foot where the arch begins?
I'm flat footed, and I've noticed that under hard braking, I get this cramping in the arch of my foot.
This usually happens if I'm wearing my Onitsuka Tigers (already the most comfortable pair of shoes I have for driving).
I used to have a cheap pair of Puma driving shoes, and the flat design of the sole would often stretch the tendons in my feet/arch to the point that I felt a burning feeling.

I've tried adjusting where I contact the brake pedal with my foot (trying to plant the ball of my foot on it, instead of the part between the ball and the arch), but so far, whenever I have to brake hard, there's a chance that this will happen.

Any suggestions?

Orthopedics?
There are really only so many positions that you can put your foot on the brake so I don't know what else to say that could help.

I've had some pain around my ankle from moving from gas to brake a lot, but doesn't happen all the time. If you consistently get pain there, maybe try as Tcoat said, orthopedics. In my everyday sneakers, I use custom made insoles for my flat feet & arch and I don't get pains from the foot itself. The few times my ankle got tired from all the movement, there is always left-foot braking bro

That might be the answer... I've always been concerned that orthopedics would reduce the amount of feel...

Properly made they can be a wonderful thing. Not something you can cheap out on though. The trick is to bare with them through the break in because they are going to mess with your head as well as your feet for a while. They will not impact feel anymore then a good shoe.

My left foot used to be like that from pushing the clutch, it ended up going away after a month or so. How long has this been going on?

I really started noticing it within the last 6 months - not sure why, since I don't think I'm really driving it any different.... Could be seating position, but I'm hesitant to give that up because my current seating position is pretty optimal...

My shoes do have really thin soles, but then I've driven and tracked with them before, without experiencing the same problem - it seems to occur only during panic stop/unexpected hard braking situations, so it could also be mental...

Could be mental I suppose, only other idea I can think of would be a pinched nerve.

Other solutions could be better brake pads, bigger master cylinder, or bigger pedal to spread the weight.

If it was a problem you only ran into while driving on the track I was going to suggest a pair of mountain bike shoes - rigid soles on 'em. Before I switched to purpose made cycling shoes for the bike riding I do, I noticed a lot of pain from the soles of my feet from pushing hard on the bike pedals and my foot curving around the pedal. The rigid soles of cycling shoes keep the foot flat....but not real practical to drive around in everyday lol.

Go to a Chiropractor and find exactly what is wrong. There are a couple of different things it could be. Without treatment you could be out of commission for quite a while

Thankfully, it is really rare - probably less than 1% of the time I apply the brakes... But still worth checking out

Don't skip the leg days.

Teseo 04-04-2015 10:19 AM

Visit your doctor. This happen with others shoes? Happen witout driving?
Do not tight your shoes, this can cut the circulation and cause some kind of nerve pain
