springs or coils?

Now that spring is finally here I want to take my car out of the factory 4x4 mode and am unsure if I need coils or can get away with lowering springs for the time being. I've searched for a "Yes, this will work absolutely" answer but have not found one that made me confident enough to pull the trigger.

For wheels/tires I'm running 18x8.5 +35 with 235/40/18 in the front and 18x9.5 +40 with 255/35/18 in the back. Everything with the suspension is still stock. I would like to run slightly wider tires than these because the lip on my wheels sticks out. Thinking 245/265 front and back, but only after my current set wears out.

Can I get away with running TRD lowering springs with this setup or will I rub and need to go to coilovers? Also, for proper alignment will I need additional parts like LCAs? I'd like to get good coils eventually, but for now if I can save on those and get headers too I'd be very happy.

fronts are fine. you might come close to rubbing in the rear with the 265s on just lowering springs... not completely sure though.

Here you go, this should help you find the answers you seek regarding needing LCAs or naw.

If you want the ability to fine tune your rear camber, you need some sort of camber adjusting thing. Whether it's LCAs, UCAs, or UCA camber bushings. Otherwise you get the camber that you get from lowering the vehicle, and you're stuck with that. Hopefully it's even and close to what you want.

I debated with lowering springs or coilovers for the longest time. I liked coilovers because of the flexibility to adjust how I want and that it's an entire package, but the price wasn't something I was able to work with. I ended up getting H&R lowering springs and I love the result. The camber is negligible compared to stock and that was also a huge concern of mine. I don't need to get LCA's to compensate, it's barely tilted at all. I may get some eventually just for the look though.

I felt like you with wanting something else I could afford if I got the cheaper choice, so I did and I was able to get my front lip and side skirts too!

I have 18x8" with 235/40/18 and the width is just equal to the wheel lip, so I can get curb bite and I want to avoid that, so I think the next tires I'll go wider like 245/40 fronts and maybe 255 in the rear. I like the meaty look.

Ok it seems like I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on getting lowering springs for the time being and upgrade to coils at a later date. I will go ahead and purchase camber bolts for the front since they are cheap and will give me some adjustability and I will let the suspension settle for a few weeks before checking my alignment and deciding if I will get LCAs or something for rear camber. I know I'll need them eventually so oh well.

Thanks for the help everyone.
