My Greddy Turbocharged BRZ Limited 400rwhp 349rwtq

Hey guys, originally I was running the innovate kit on flex fuel. I liked it but I was looking for something that had similar response but better power capabilities. This winter I installed the greddy turbo kit. I made some customizations, with a larger intake pipe, MUCH larger filter, and an electric exhaust cutout to let the turbo breathe better when I want it to. I also wrapped all the hot pipes and installed a turbo blanket under the heat shield.

So far, even after a 2.5 hour drive, a few dyno runs, and a 2.5 hour drive back, in heavy traffic I haven't experienced high temps at all. This is with a lot of stop and go traffic as well seeing boost quite often. I don't track my car so right now this kit is perfect for the street. I've put about 1500 miles on it so far.

I am still running the stock cat back as of right now, it still made 332rwhp on 10.73psi with the cutout closed, but gained about 33rwhp with it open. The best exhaust for a turbo is no exhaust, so I figured it would give me the best of both worlds. I don't get harassed by the cops for a loud car, and its loud when I want it to be. I still need to put on my set of summer wheels and tires now that the weather is good. We had to load sandbags in the trunk to keep the stock ones from spinning on the dyno....oops.

I have not been tuned on a dyno yet. I am currently using Delicious Tuning's Flash & GO with a flex fuel setup. I am tuned for 15psi but I was only running about 10.73 unsteady psi during the dyno pulls. This was due to using a manual boost controller. I will be posting new numbers when I get a true 85% ethanol mixture, and an electronic boost control solenoid set to 15psi. This kit still has a good amount of power left in it. The flash & go tune I am using is about as close to a dyno tune as you can get. It feels like the car was meant to be turbocharged from the factory. Not a single hiccup so far. Thanks @sales@delicioustuning.com for all your help!

Here is a dyno video. This pull was started a little late after 3000rpms, the previous pulls made peak torque at exactly 3400rpms when started at 2500rpms. Stay tuned for bigger numbers at 15psi!

Nice setup. You could've gone with a 335 if you wanted more power. The blower upgrade is under $3k. I hate to think how much going with the Sprintex and then Greddy cost altogether.

It was almost an even swap and I've yet to see a 335 over 350rwhp on a stock motor. Bought the greddy kit slightly used. It was pristine and low mileage. The 335 requires way more boost to make the same power as a turbo. The larger the blower the more parasitic drag. The 210 unit with a 70mm takes about 50-60hp just to spin. I believe I saw the 335 making 320 rwhp on the stock motor at 19psi. It has to be watered down a lot to even make it safe on a stock motor.

Thank god you did not go with the 335. The 335 is such a bad option for this car.

Looks great! Can I get details on the air and breather filter you have there?

Thanks man!

Turns out I messed up on my conversions. I took another look at the dyno run data log and the boost was actually only 10.73psi.

Where you getting your dyno work done if you don't mind me asking.

boostedbrz 04-12-2015 07:20 AM

I just drove up to dynotunemotorsports in columbus ohio to get the numbers on the dyno. I don't have any ecutek tuners remotely close so my tune was done by Bill knose at delicious tuning. It is their flash & go tune with customizations for my setup at 15psi.

That is awesome.
Out of curiosity, any estimate on how much weight you had to put in the trunk?
Also did you modify or remove the washer fluid reservoir?

Sorry, I didn't see your post. I added about 5-6 bags. I'd say they were 25lb bags. I removed the reservoir to save weight and because I never use it. Initially I had left it in, and relocated the filler neck.
