I sat in the FiST at the car show and as much as I would agree with the sitting on instead of in thing, my issue is with the seat cushion bolsters. Not to be crass, but, I have entirely too much junk to have my legs forced together by those Recaros all of the time (and I'm no pornstar).

Funny enough, I didn't have the same issue in the FoST. If I didn't have an FR-S, I would need to go with the FoST.

That said, I think there's a place for the FoST in the market. It's still probably the go-to choice for people who want a more fun car than the GTI and don't care about interior refinement. Of the US hot hatches, it's the most willing to lift-throttle oversteer, which is important since we're talking about FWD cars that can't rotate on power. I might actually take it over the mk7 GTI if I needed to consolidate my cars.

Ford applies a brake to the inside front wheel to help the car rotate. Cooks the brakes pretty badly on the track doing that according to a friend that used to track one. It likely isn't an issue on the street, but I'd rather have the power pack GTI that has an actual LSD and doesn't use brake tricks to make it handle. Something just seems dirty about using the brakes to induce rotation.

Yeah that's actually an issue for the MK6 GTI as well. It uses brake-based torque vectoring (XDS). When heat starts building up in the brakes at the track, I can feel them fade. I actually almost lost them going 100+ into a braking zone.

I agree about not liking the concept in principle, but I wonder if an easy solution like BBK + track pads would be enough. Costly though. And you're right, could be a good reason to go for the GTI + PP.

Weird, I have never heard of the Fiesta and Focus being referred to as "FiST" and "FoST" until this thread.

Those are rear legless amputee children stands, not rear seats.

With the new AWD Focus RS they are going to be using the throttle instead of braking. Should be nice!

Good to hear. I'm a lot more accepting of sending more power to certain wheels to achieve rotation instead of basically doing automated handbrake turns.

I'd buy a FiST if we got the three door here.
