AP Racing Sprint BBK question
Hi, I'm considering AP Racing BBK but cannot decide between Sprint vs Street version. I take my car couple times a year to the track, otherwise it's just fun drive in summer on clean/dry streets.
Does anyone driving with the Sprint kit on streets on daily basis? Noticed any damage to pots or seals? TIA! |
Tons of guys here that DD on their Sprint kits. Unless you live in an area that sees snow, you'll be just fine.
PM us to order :) |
Swap back to stock for the snow. :)

AP Racing Sprint BBK question
Straight from the AP Racing' catalog, "It is important to the correct type of caliper for the intended use. The design requirements for a brake caliper to be used on the public highway (road) and competition (race) use are significantly different. A road caliper often has to go for long periods of time without servicing or maintenance, therefore corrosion protection and durability are primary considerations. A brake caliper designed for competition use must be lightweight yet capable of operating reliably at high temperatures , however it is normally cleaned and serviced very frequently. AP Racing produces calipers optimized for these two very different applications. Although generally derived from our racing calipers, all AP road calipers have a protective paint finish, wiper (dirt) seals or dust boots (along with pressure seals) to prevent dirt ingress and are of a heavier construction than calipers intended solely for competition use. We strongly recommend that only purpose designed "Road" calipers are used on vehicles intended for regular use on public highways."
Yes, consumers use race calipers on the public street, but at their own risk and liability. The AP Racing by STILLEN road car brake upgrades are designed for street use and better heat management that can be used on the road and track. Choose wisely. |
Salty roads are not friendly to steel pistons on AP Sprint kit, I swap to stock Nov-Mar in north east

Is there any option for an upgraded caliper with seals on the sprint kit? I am staying with 17's and would be all over this kit if it had seals. I don't know that I want to swap out the calipers twice a year though. Thanks! Pat |

OK thanks Mike, that is what I figured. This kit would really be perfect for me aside from having to take them off in the winter, granted that is a pretty simple operation to do when changing to winter wheels anyways. I have gone the path of better pads/fluid, outgrown them and ended up with a big brake kit later anyways. I am thinking I will skip that step this time and just get a better brake kit right away. Do the other AP racing or Brembo options fit behind 17's? Can you get the sprint kit with plain rotors, no J hooks? Thanks. Pat |
