Windshield wiper blades / housings?
I currently have some Rain-x blades on my FRS, and they're a bit of a disappointment.
I have done some searching, and it looks like the recommendation is to just use new rubber inserts in the old wipers. Hypothetically speaking, what if someone didn't realize that, and they threw away their original wipers with the inserts still inside? Again, hypothetically, how would that person go about buying new OEM wiper frames / inserts? Alternatively, does anyone know of an aftermarket blade that doesn't lift up off the screen at high speed? Thanks! |

Here's one for example: http://subaruonlineparts.com/subaru-...le-p-3869.html Alternatively, Bosch ICON is a comparable aftermarket product. I, too, had Rain-X brand replacements, which worked fine for a few months then it started streaking and popping off easily. Replaced them with the Bosch ICON set and now it's good. |
I personally despise the stock wipers in the winter. The concave housing above the blade seems to attract ice and snow like a magnet. I think I spent a total of 2 or 3 hours this winter prying ice out of there with my frozen fingers.

if available, try the Aerotwin range from Bosch, great wipers:

OP is in The US so that'll be the Bosch ICON. Bosch brands the same model as different names in different regions. |

Treat the windshield first
My advice is to treat the windshield first.
I am currently using this product: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Aquapel-Glass-Treatment-Single-Applicators/dp/B004NFXA7I/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=14536878 40&sr=1-1&keywords=aquapel&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011 "]Aquapel Glass Treatment[/ame] but I will probably change to this when I get the chance: FORTE: Extreme Windshield Coating Both coatings last many times longer than the commonly used Rain-X, and I feel they do a better job. Then get good wipers. I will second the Bosch Icon's, they are good blades. My current blades are these: Valeo Ultimate Wiper Blades I purchased them after my OE blade holder broke. I decided at the time that the Valeo blades would work better than the Bosch ones. I don't know if that's true since I haven't tried the Bosch on my car, but the Valeos do seem to work just fine with my Aquapel glass treatment so I am happy with my choice. |
