Innovate Stage 2 Kit
So, I installed this kit last week, and have had problems with it running smoothly... The car turns over and it runs from the direct injectors on a cold start, but when the port injectors kick in, the car dies. I just reinstalled the while kit and made sure all the connections were good. I also replaced most of the clamps with better hose clamps that have a spring. The car misfires and dies, and the brief idle is very rough. I am using the Delicious Tuning tune made specifically for my modifications and the 69MM pulley. I have also made sure the injectors were sealed properly by using new o-rings. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is the duty cycle on the port injectors isn't large enough :/ but @DeliciousTuning certainly knows how to tune so maybe it's a fluke of a situation.

Are you still on the stock fuel pump?
|
Did you contact Delicious Tuning already about your problems? What was their response?

Kyle has been in contact with us, and we've checked the tune numerous times to be sure it's not related to the software. This particular Innovate tune version that we've sent to Kyle is currently running well on over 100 other Innovate kits on the market, and would be near impossible for it to display such stark differences from all the other vehicles assuming everything was proper mechanically.
Some things we've seen that can cause these symptoms or similar symptoms: -Rubber injector seats not swapped over from old manifold -MAP extension harness has loose pins or bad wiring (better not to use the extension harness at all) -Not using stock MAP sensor -Not using stock fuel injectors -Severe vacuum leak, usually at the fittings on the rear of the manifold. To fully tighten these fittings and fix/prevent leaks, the manifold must physically be removed. it is recommended to replace the plastic fittings with brass fittings at this time. Most of these potential issues we've gone over with the customer this point, so we're also running out of ideas on what could be causing the issue. Sincerely, Zach Delicious Tuning |
Zach has been a great help and has been giving me good feedback in terms of troubleshooting the kit. I was just wondering if anyone who hasn't been using Delicious Tuning for their tuning software encountered a similar problem. The o-rings were transferred from the original manifold and are in good shape. O-rings on the injectors are solid all around, so there is no leakage there. The back connections were fastened with new clamps and not the original ones. The previous owner of the kit had the brake booster elbow in the back of the manifold plugged, because he had an automatic transmission, but that was taken off and hooked up to my brake booster using the air valve line that controls the direction of suction. The only thing I can think of now is a bad MAP sensor extension, but that seems quite unlikely but definitely worth a shot.

You can run an aftermarket fuel pump without a tune adjustment FYI...but I was just helping rule out another possible issue.
You don't even need the MAP sensor extension. Test it out by just plugging the maf sensor in without it, should be a quick test on that end. Besides an air leak I am not sure what else would be causing it as Zach pointed out. Are you 100% sure that the supercharger was bolted down without any interference from the engine harness? Can't imagine you would do that but doesn't hurt to ask. I'd also check to make sure the o rings are ok, especially the one on the TB. Also check over and see if you left anything unplugged, and check to make sure you have the lines for the purge valve solenoid connected correctly and tightened down. |
Some tips
check the extension harness is wired up each end correctly, I found It came crossed wired from Sprintex and caused my car to do the same. Verify each color wire matches each end. Use the stock MAP sensor Check your fuse to the Injectors Check your EVAP lines are on properly Get a can of quick start and spray Around the SC, to check if you have leaks, you will hear the engine rev up if there is a leak. How's the coolant, if you losing coolant you might be leaking into the manifold. Have you got the correct idler pulley on. Can't see it being tune related, if Bill or Zach are telling you it's mechanical, you can bet its mechanical. If you want to verify this, load your stock ROm back in and start the car and run under 3000rpm, very slow. Good luck |
So, I had a friend of mine (a local shop owner) check out my car, and he said that my two left cylinders are misfiring, which causes my engine to die. I have also induced an oil leak (engine oil, not gasoline) which is leaking on the side of the manifold. Not sure where this is coming from, and haven't gotten the chance to look into it yet. He suggested that I take off the fuel rail cover and check all the connections to see if anything is loose that hooks up to the fuel injectors or rail. Does anyone have any input on this?
