Clear Coat

Has this happened to anyone before?:sigh: I recently just found it while i was washing my car today and it sort've looks like the clear coat. But not to sure if it is.
Is there any way i can fix it myself or would i have to go to a body shop to get it repaired?

Can you post a wider shot? Where is it?

Looks like someone tried to pry up your headlight..... ;(

That looks like paint wrinkle. If it is it's usually from too much heat from a rotary polisher on plastic panels. Has your car been in for work lately?

Yup it sure looks like it....OP can't you claim with your car insurance?

Amir Ghadiri 03-29-2015 02:15 AM

No sense in claiming with insurance as it's going to be a $50-100 repair tops. You could remove the bumper, then have someone colorsand that area. All the white parts will be fixed, and the black parts would need touch up paint. Shouldn't cost over $50. Or you could have that part of the bumper repainted for under $100. It is a nice little section perfect for a paint blend.

Most likely the bumper popped off the clips under the headlight (if you scraped the bumper?) and the damage is a result of it rubbing. Pretty common with our bumpers!

My advice,

Your bumper is going to get pelted from rock chips and scraps in the future(if no clear bra)

So I would leave it for a year or two. Then buy a new bumper and get it painted by a good body shop. (Then clear bra it)

Seems like a paint defect, due to heat? Is your car still under warranty?

I'm a noob, but looks like it might need a wet sanding fix?
