Sachs coilover teaser pic
Found this picture on the ASM blog for the 86. No specs given but Sachs known to be on the higher/highest end.
I'm wondering if this is a sign that ASM will start making parts for the 86/BRZ. For people that don't know, ASM makes some of the highest quality parts for S2Ks and a few other cars (Mini, 350z, etc). The downside is the price is very high. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...33863398_n.jpg |
These will be excellent without question. But yes, you will pay for said quality.

whoa?!? sachs for real? that is going to be some serious dinero... but im sure theyll be backing it up with a high quality part.

The adjuster is in an amazingly accessible location as well. These were engineered by people who knew that you will have to actually use them.

did you get yours yet Adam? got a red one coming for me in a few days :)

i read the facebook post. it says they're gonna put sachs ft-86 coilovers on a cr-z. in fact, this blog post makes it sound like they're not gonna make any parts for the fr-s/brz.
http://autobacs-asm.jp/blog/asm/inde...o=2090#myu2090 in the post kanayama-san says he came away with a very positive impression of the car, yet was very disappointed with the low quality interior and exterior design for cost cutting, comparing it unfavorably to similarly priced competitors such as the mini, fiat 500 and audi a1. he said asm would not buy a gt86 because it was so surprisingly well balanced that there was nothing he wanted to tune on the car. he feels like all you would need is a saclam exhaust (which they're already making without asm's help), ap racing brakes and pads, drexler lsd, some asm karo mats and you'd be done. this is just my interpretation but i think kanayama-san has an anti-toyota bias. his parts are premium products and i think he is only interested in a certain level of premium cars, the low cost entry level aspect of the gt86 apparently put him off. quite disappointing i must say as asm makes some of the best stuff. |

I find what I bolded hard to believe. If you think about the S2000 it's also a very balanced sports car and they basically has products for each part of the car. Maybe Kanayama doesn't think there is a market for premium parts for a low cost car |
yeah i'm sure the sachs will fit the ft86 as it says it's an ft86 model, but asm probably had no part in the development of the sachs ft86 coilover as they're set on converting it into a cr-z coilover.
i find the bold hard to believe too but that's exactly what kanayama-san wrote, verbatim. i agree about the s2000 being also balanced, which is why i think he's just biased. |

Reviving this age old thread since I found that there’s a Sachs suspension for the FR-S currently available. However, there’s no price or picture and a Google search of the part number yields nothing useful. I’m curious if anyone else might have more information.
Part number is 841500 000299 https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3679/...33fabe5e_b.jpg |
