Go Fund Me project

Any and all donations would be appreciated. Thank you

swarb 03-25-2015 03:01 PM

Maybe if you wrote in much much more detail you would get some support. At this point it looks like you are asking for freebies.

You're asking for money for what exactly?

You briefly touch on becoming a race driver or an automotive journalist, but also that you're looking to get your car sponsored.

But in the end it sounds like you want someone else to pay for your track sessions and to fix your car if you crash it.

Burrcold 03-25-2015 03:29 PM

Hahahahaha!!!

Basically i am trying to get a sponsorship from toyota they are looking for new drivers for there scion racing team so i want to use my car to try to get sponsored they have scouts at the local shop where i live and have talked to them about getting sponsored. In order for them to consider me they have to watch me over the course of 2 seasons of track time to make sure i have the required skills. The money would cover the entry fees, and yes things that may get broken if there is a crash. Not everyone is perfect but its been a dream to be a professional driver and when im older to become a journalist like the gentleman on Top Gear.

Scavanger 03-25-2015 03:31 PM

Honestly i know i wont get much support but i figured i should at least try because if you dont try you can never succeed.

Eski 03-25-2015 03:41 PM

i want to support you here but i dont see any real motivation behind what your doing... you need to write more than one sentence about what your trying to do. i agree with the other posts, it just seems like your basically asking for freebees while the rest of us slave away at work 40+ hours a week to afford our dreams..

tahdizzle 03-25-2015 03:43 PM

I agree with @Scavanger.

If people want to give me money for no reason, I'll take it.
You have to have your hand out first though.

tahdizzle 03-25-2015 03:43 PM

Lets all start a "Go Fund Me"!

Takumi788 03-25-2015 03:44 PM

Get involved with your local track. You live in Texas and happen to have one of the greatest tracks currently in the US at your disposal. Hit all of the HPDE events. Work your way up to HPDE 4. Then get into time trials. If you do well there legit companies will sponsor you with goodies.

Seems kind of bold to ask people to fund your hobby. Even if a person donated you $10k so you can be a race car driver. Without hard work and dedication what have you earned?

swarb 03-25-2015 03:45 PM

1. go to drivers school or practice karting.
2. go to school for journalism.
3. Do it the old fashioned way with hard work and your own money, go to track/shows often, and THEN try sponsorship.
Have you been to the track? , what makes you better than joe schmo that has been driving for many more years, many more cars, and much more experience? why would they sponsor you/your relatively stock car compared to a built one that is faster, has a better driver and is sorted? I'm not trying to put you down, You have to sell yourself and your car. And at this point you have done neither to get my or scion's interest.

I feel like the OP is some 16-year old trying to live out a childhood dream, correct me if I'm wrong though. We all want to be race car drivers but those who actually become them work hard to reach that plateau and don't ask for handouts. GL with your endeavor but I honestly think you're not going to get the support you want from what I've read.

Get a job, start saving and see where that leads.

Convince me why I need to spend my hard earned CDN $ on this and we'll see lol

DAEMANO 03-25-2015 03:57 PM

@Scavanger

There is someone here very uniquely qualified to perhaps provide you with some insights (if you ask nicely) about funding, scion racing, and getting into "the life" taking the route you've chosen.

Paging @MicheleAbbate

If she doesn't / can't pop-in, try her website. http://m1cheleabbate.com/videos/

D_Thissen 03-25-2015 04:00 PM

Sorry OP, but if you're going to ask for my (and others) hard earned money. There has to be something in it for us.

Similar to this.

Well first off i do have a job im military, second i have never and will never partake in drugs i feel that its a wate of time and money. My spare money and time gets donated to the local boys and girls club which makes it hard to save what little i do make. Oh and when im not at work or at the boys and girls club im working on college so i can get a teaching degree. But hey at least some people have the opportunity to save time with all that and do nothing all day sometimes i wish i could do that. Not looking for sympathy money just hoping some people would like to see a regular person on the page get sponsored.

Speed2th 03-25-2015 04:01 PM

i knew few people were in similar situation and they actually worked to pay for their sessions, maintenance and upgrades. until they have proven records that they have potential, then they asked companies sponsor. in other word, they earned it.

Maybe if you took some of that spare money and put it towards your dream than you wouldn't need to be doing this. Seems counter intuitive to say you have spare money, and yet you give it away to charity, then you create this campaign to raise more money. I'm almost not sure at this point if the money you're asking for would go straight to charity or to you persuing this dream of yours. Not saying it's bad you donate to charity, but seems your financial priorities aren't in order right now

I'm going to start a Go Fund Me. The funds will go towards my goal of doing two chicks at the same time.

Eski 03-25-2015 04:15 PM

well OP got wrecked on his own thread. fun read.
btw pretty sure the "sponsor" you talked to was trolling you with the 2 seasons where they have to watch you. seems like he just didnt want to give you the time of day.

I'm in if there is video for verification. Must have pic of ft86club name and date.

rice_classic 03-25-2015 04:23 PM

So Scion wants to see you "on track" for a couple years before they consider putting you in one of their actual race cars. Sounds way too easy.

Like WAY too easy... Unless you can write 6 or 7 figure checks directly to the Scion team, you're gonna need SO MUCH MORE than just 2 years doing track days to get a ride in a corporate backed race team.

A lot of us in this forum are in the military, so don't expect that to get you much. Especially since you're acting like a spoiled Airman. What you choose to spend your paycheck on is up to you. You don't have enough money after feeding homeless people and going to school? That was your choice to make, so you have to cut back in other areas of your life.

Plus, you've done nothing to warrant a sponsorship. Some of the people on this forum are on the track multiple times a month for years; if anyone should be sponsored, it should be one of them. They've put in the time and sacrifice. Instead, you want us to give you the money that we've earned so that you can go play. Why exactly should we do that?

Disclaimer! I am the last person to be a spelling/grammar natzi!

Highlighted are the glaring errors. I didn't even try to go down the road of sentence structure and grammar.
Nothing at all for a regular post but for somebody asking for money that wants to be a racecar driver/journalist and is already in the military and going to college to be a teacher this just does not cut it!
If you can't be bothered to hit shift to capitalize letters then how much work are really interested in putting into the multitude of other things you want?

Scavanger 03-25-2015 04:38 PM

Sorry I didn't feel like correcting simple errors, if someone can't understand what was trying to be said thats there problem honestly idc if you donate or not just figured i would post it.

Special_K 03-25-2015 04:39 PM

@Scavanger, not to be a ****, you can ask for whatever you want. BUUUUUUUUUUUT... You should change your forum handle.

HMMMM should make the perfect teacher and journalist!
I think you missed my point completely. Simple errors lead to bigger errors and being too lazy too do it right or correct them if you know they are there is not a good trait for any of the ambitions you have or job you claim to do. Good lord, I hope you don't work on or handle aircraft or weapons.

Scavanger 03-25-2015 04:48 PM

It does when you are currently asking for money for a future job of being a race car driver.

Scavanger 03-25-2015 04:54 PM

Asking for money anyone can do for any reason, mine just so happens to be this yes. Normally I would care about it, but honestly on here i really don't.
