Ticket Me Red Firestorm
Finally got my hand on my manual FRS. After waiting so long for the color I wanted! I got a call from Fred Haas Toyota World saying my firestorm just arrived! I immediately took off work to head there. Sign the paperworks and took my 3 hours drive home! Mind you this is my first time ever driving a manual.... I was a nervous wreck! I was kind of prepares... Did a lot of mental training beforehand with my automatic. So as soon as I sat in that car... I can't help having this shitty grin on my face, and the nervousness went away! This is the first time ever in my 24 years of age. That I had an absolutely blast being in a car. A chance to drive it is a plus too! Wil post up pic whenever I get off work.
Edit: Added Pic http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/IMG_0557.jpg Updated Finally got around to have the car details and opti-coated. The results is fantastic!! Prop to Chris from Chreeno Detailing in Spring, Texas! Now awaiting on my spoiler. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Kobelinh/15.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Kobelinh/16.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Kobelinh/17.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Kobelinh/18.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Kobelinh/19.jpg Update Spoiler arrived!! Installation was easy, but you need to take your time lining it up. I rushed mine and I ended up making the right side of the spoiler closer to the trunk line than the left side.:mad0259: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/cb7fe0a0.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/90099599.jpg Update Finally got around to installed my retrofit kit and painted my housing. This is totally the first time I ever done anything like this. Boy it took much longer than I expected!! I didn't even know how to took off the bumper, and if it wasn't for a local forum member Tad_07 helps this will never happens. So a big thank to Tad! Now I need to adjust the beam level and will post up the cutoff later once it is dark! Bumper Off!! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/a1eaf5fa.jpg Almost There! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/ba3172e5.jpg All Done! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...h/a79ad5d7.jpg |

Congratulations! In for pics!
I halfway thought this thread would include something like 'got a ticket on my way home' due to the title; Firestorm is beautiful, though I've already been hit with my first ticket in it; cop claims to have been trailing me from a far distance; only downside to such a stand-out color =P |
I could have swore this thread was titled "Tickle Me Red..." on first reading.

Lol yes I actually thought I was going to get a ticket too. I was almost home, about to turn left to my neighborhood. Traffic light turn red, stopped there waiting for it to turn green. The problem with this is I'm still strugglin to start it in 1st gear...a lot of jerky start. Make matter worse a cop car was behind me.. So I got nervous want to make the drive off in 1st gear smoothly... I ended up stalling at the green light 3 times. The cop then turn on his flashing light and siren. He pulled me over right there in between the four intersections. I was scared as sh*t. Luckily for me I known the officer!! He eats frequently at my restaurant. So he let me off after I explained it to him that this is my first time driving a manual.

How embarrasing is the moment... it happens to everyone on their first couple of days of driving manual.

Congratulations! :needpics:

I am a recent manual driver as well and I think the most important thing I figured out is that you have a tendency to give the engine too little gas and end up stalling. (also always make sure you're in 1st and not 3rd on accident).
Just give the engine some revs and then keep pressing the gas as you slowly release the clutch. Remember that the answer to if you are giving it enough gas or not is always, "give it more gas." As long as you don't drop the clutch (release slowly) you'll be ok and the engagement will bring the revs right where they need to be. |
Nice! Finally a picture that does Firestorm justice! Color looks sooooo gooooood

congrats man! i just now realize that firestorm on the exterior matches the bolster seats on the interior. nice! :)
I think being new with driving manual can be an advantage, you don't have a "preferred" settings, like the grab distance of the clutch, how heavy the shift knob is, how smooth/rough the car up/down shift ...etc so whatever you learn on this car will be the standard and I have no problem with that :D A rookie mistake that I tend to do though is to shift to 3rd from 4th instead of 5th. The engine seems to be happy on 3rd so it lets me do that way too easily. Come back to TX more often man, lets go for meet :D |
Yea what made it hard is learning it by myself. All of them YouTube videos came in handy lol!! Right now I'm getting the hang of getting it in first. But when there is a slope... I tend to panic. Because the car would start to roll back... and I don't want it to hit the person behind me.
