Bought another car... :P

So, this past weekend my brother and I flew to LA to pick up another car...

What car, you ask?

Well, for those of you that know me, I think you can guess it...

PSYCH! :paddle:

I like Foxes, but I sure as hell wouldn't buy that one!

It's a 1993.5 NA 5 Speed with 200k+ on the clock.

Drives like an absolute champ! Previous owner has had it since '99 and has taken meticulous care of it.

It's a bit different from the previous Supras we've had here at the Guff household. Usually we get pretty original cars, with low-ish miles, and turbocharged, but this time we went pretty left field. This car is painted Lotus Racing Green, with a couple of non-original body pieces. It has an intake and exhaust, but that's about it.

After driving down the Pacific Coast Highway for a bit, we lived out a dream of ours by visiting Neptune's Net in a Supra!

It was just as awesome as we though it would be, with lots of gearheads, and plenty of cool cars in the parking lot...

We went in and ordered Tuna Sandwiches in homage of not only an iconic film, but, of course, the late, great Paul Walker.

Here's my brother, eating fries, and reflecting on how he doesn't take handouts from anybody, and earns his own every step of the way...

After lunch, we pulled the targa off and cruised the canyons...

And then we made the long trek back home...

Many, many miles later...

And that's all she wrote...

It was a fantastic journey! One that I would happily do again! California is just an awesome place, and I totally understand why enthusiasts choose to live there despite the shitty gas and mod-hating police.

Shoutout to @Fang and @Jrryjms07 for their help!

Enjoy the new car!

gramicci101 03-24-2015 04:47 PM

You don't even have the VTEC Mini done yet though.

DarkSunrise 03-24-2015 04:50 PM

Congrats! Any mod plans for it yet?

swarb 03-24-2015 04:58 PM

:bellyroll: You're right about that! It'll probably be done by this summer, assuming I can actually find time to work on it. I'm really close, just a few nitpicky things that I need to do before it's on the road...

Thanks man! Nothing yet! It might get boosted at some point, but for now it's staying as is.

Hahaha, no spiders! I wish it did though, I need all that JDM Cred. :bonk:

And the car was originally bought here in Dallas way back in 93, so I guess you could say it's the Supra's homecoming...

fang_gt86 03-24-2015 06:07 PM

That's one clean Supra. Especially with 200k.

Jrryjms07 03-24-2015 09:45 PM

Sweet car and I bet the experience was awesome! Glad I was of assistance!!

dem00n 03-24-2015 10:13 PM

Loving that color, fit's that era perfectly.

Congrats.

You should supercharge it, you know...piss some people off.

Thanks! I definitely agree! We used to have a 1997 Jewel Green which is pretty similar and it looks just as stunning! And supercharging is not a bad idea... I've always wanted to do a proper NA build with some artsy headers and ITBs but the end rarely justifies the means in those builds... :iono:

I made a short video of the trip to LA! It's not particularly exciting, but you get to see the beautiful Los Angeles and some canyon driving.

Dude, we were actively looking for a Ferrari, but all we found were geriatric dudes in Porsche convertibles... :bellyroll: :bellyroll:

Shisui86 03-25-2015 03:27 AM

Damn...Supras are so pretty!!! Nice buy!

Fang 03-25-2015 11:07 AM

i'm also very very jealous.

sc0urge 03-29-2015 04:58 AM

Thanks for sharing! Looks like you and your brother had a nice trip down. It's nice to see that there are still some clean, well-taken care of Supras out there; definitely a good find. Drive her in good health!

Guff, you are a moderator. You should know the 1000 pixel rule.

I am saying this because I am in the airport and waited a good 5 minutes to look at the pictures. 56k death?

hmong337 03-29-2015 03:33 PM

Fuck I'm jealous! NA's are pretty much the only way to get a clean Supra these days that aren't modified to an inch of their lives.

That paint is gorgeous. Yours is the same age as mine but mine has a rattlecan matte black paintjob.

It's surprising how fun this comparatively heavy/low hp car is, isn't it?

I got myself another car as well, added a G37x to the stables. Its nice to have AWD. Especially since sometimes its really muddy at my job. Keeps the miles off the FRS. :)

Awww hell yeah! I got one as a rental one time and it was a blast. Infinitis are really nice nowadays!

I bet it's way faster than the FRS too... :bellyroll:

lol yeah it keeps pace with my friends 2014 camaro ss. but the weight is god awful...

i bought it so i can dd it instead of the FR-S, I failed epicly. still drive the FR-S 6 days out of the week. but kids are getting bigger so I needed something.

It had 30k miles and i picked it up for a hair under 18k, so if i total it i make money. ZING. lol

Yeah, I was really surprised with how fun it is. Torque goes a long way, I guess!

That's a killer deal! And I hear you dude, sometimes the allure of the FRS is just too strong...

Dave-ROR 05-26-2015 11:17 AM

Haven't sold it yet? :)

Haha nope, not yet. Patience is a virtue and the Supra market is always appreciating.

Plus I'm neck deep in getting this damned 94 back on the road that I haven't had time to think about it. Engine is still at the machine shop. Needed a line hone last I heard, but I'll have to check in tomorrow to be sure. It's gonna be sweet once it's ready, most powerful car I've had yet, but it's just a matter of when.
