Civic roadster, now there's something no one asked for. There's your new S2k.

Since when are Civics mid-engined/rwd? Been a LONG time since a Civic has weighed 2000 lb. as well.

It doesn't look all that great, but I would buy one of these in a second if it came to the U.S. (it won't).

This is "Kei" car size, no? S660 in reference to 660cc Kei engine regulation size?

Edit: nevermind, read the article and it certainly appears to be a Honda Beat revival.

An all new RWD kei roadster sounds great in theory, it's just disappointing how ugly this is.

I am with you!
Looking at the front pic and thinking "geez guys that isn't so bad".
Then went to the link and saw the back, screamed in horror and closed the tab!

Sorry, I dig it. Then again, I liked the Beat too, which is what this replaces, NOT the S2000.

Thank you, Honda. :w00t:

I was going to say the same thing. I dig it. I was a fan of the Beat growing up and this thing looks pretty cool.

I'd have to see it with the top down to make a final judgment, it has obviously been designed for top down viewing. Even so, they couldn't have made those "pods" in the back look any more stuck on if they had intentionally tried to.

Not attractive, but I like the idea of it. Hope a version with a bigger engine comes to the US.

I really wish Honda had kept the S2000 line open. Sigh.

Ashikabi 03-24-2015 02:34 PM

This thing looks good. Big Honda fan myself. Probably super fun to drive

rice_classic 03-24-2015 03:16 PM

Small/underpowered cars a lot of fun to race and way more affordable to race too.

However, 60hp and a CVT makes baby jesus cry.

They mentioned a possible S1000 with 1.0L Turbo and 100hp and a MT. Now that's more like it. Strip it, cage it, race it. :)

Ashikabi 03-24-2015 03:23 PM

Can you strip a kei car? They are just glorified gokarts after all

I obviously didn't RTFA. Just took a look at the pic and kind of threw up a lil bit. Man that thing is fugly. I guess any Honda Beat revival is welcome.

You know, if you want one, there's already relatively lightweight (2200 lbs with 138 HP) Mid-engined Rear drive Sports car that's also fugly made by Toyota. Nowadays they're cheap to boot :)
