Same exact situation from my car when I first got it at 48k miles, previous owner never touched it, seemed to have always been at dealers, bolt was entirely rounded...It took me multiple gimmicky "stripped-nut/bolt" remover solutions to get to my first oil change :(

That’s F’ing unbelievable, and dealership techs did that! [emoji37] I’ve actually found tools that were left behind by dealership techs, and just random stuff. I know it’s a tough job and they are working on lots of cars, but damn have a little more pride in your work. A good buddy of mine is a lifelong mechanic and he owns his own shop now. I know he would never dream of doing that kind of stuff. I’m always very skeptical of any dealership maintenance. The sad thing is most people don’t even look over the work, or even know what to look for. And some things are just blind faith if they have to replace something internal. I remember way back when the 1st gear synchro had to be replaced on my 2002 WRX. I asked to see the old one, just because I was curious. The service advisor was really cool and seemed like a car guy also, so he let me look at the parts they replaced. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Good point!! I did return a tool once because I know they usually have to buy their own tools. I probably should have just kept it. [emoji28] I wasn’t even sure exactly what it was. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

half my tools are old enough that leaving something behind gives me a chance to get a newer one! |

I got used to having the BMW place do the oil in my BMW when it was free (this is, of course the idea).
So when I got a free oil change with the FRS I took it to the Toyota dealer. This was a mistake. As I was at the service desk and the whole place went silent after a loud screech from the auto-check-in area. I was shocked to see my car now only a few inches from the car in front of it. The clown did not know how to start it. Must have released the clutch suddenly and, fortunately, it stalled before crashing into the car in front. I had been wanting a vacuum oil change for a while, so I finally go one. I can use it on my other cars too. |
