dirtfish

well this was some fun shit. i'll have to make vids later and do more of a review. although gopro 1440 mode is not really 1440p, at least not the well used one, it's a weird 4:3 so my shit is all boxy so i have to fuck with it more than normal.

i think i asked all my instructors the same thing... they said the stis were faster and way easier to drive. they all said the brzs are more challenging and rewarding to drive right and are more fun.

i had a karting class scheduled at sima raceway near the canadian border, it has regular karts and some that go to 80 (i assume rotax) - unfortunately it got rained out though. i'll make sure to time doing it if i visit dirtfish again, which i would really like to do! the grounds here are actually super cool, very large old wood buildings and a cool old powerplant. twin peaks was also shot at the facility.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to find some appropriate footwear before I go. Something between racing slippers and waders?

Did Michelle instruct you at all? I see her in the pictures and videos. She's a good friend of mine from autocross. Super awesome instructor!

Nevermind... I see her helmet there in the vid.

I'd imagine their cars go through front clips quite frequently.

I've only done the AWD course, but Michelle is an awesome instructor, second only to Nate of course :D Need to save up again and do this class...

they swap around day to day and different exercises too. she was my favorite actually. i felt like she pushed me the most about looking ahead, and during the demo stuff it seemed like she would often be doing it a bit quicker, she was fun to chat and work with too.

She is a pretty dang nice person.

Michelle was one of my favorites when I was there for the 3-day school last month. She really stressed the importance of looking 2-3 turns ahead in order to set the car up properly for linked drifts. When sliding around on varied terrain with little grip, you definitely have to use your vision (more than just "feel") to not make a mess of yourself.

All of the instructors were great, each with their varied styles of in-car coaching. The short didactics were also invaluable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience -- better than expected and well worth the cost of admission.

Another dude from Michigan happened to be there the same time I was. He wrote it up here:

Cheers!
