Factory Exhaust with Headers and Cool Air Intake

What kind of note and power are you guys getting from this type of set up?
If the Cats are removed (for off highway use) does the factory exaust system come alive?

Question update.
Who makes an intake/airbox (not a Plenum) and full head back exhaust that works as a whole system?

Yeah, when you take off the first cat the second cat comes alive, starts shooting hair balls and hisses at you.

But semi seriously.
If I keep the factory exhaust (cat back) and pick up some EL headers and remove or ????? The cats will the exhaust sound good or is my best bet to replace the whole thing for best performance and sound?

An aftermarket catless header + stock headerback tends to sound a bit tinny in my experience. I believe ft86speedfactory has videos of their headers with otherwise stock exhaust on their website and threads if you're curious.

UEL headers might be more up your alley since they give a distinctive subaru sound while also providing more low-range power, which I'd personally prefer in a street car.

Around 15 whp if you tune it. No tune... maybe 1-3whp. As for sound, yeah it does sound more alive. Anytime you remove cats, it's going to sound louder and more raw.

@JRCmx

Here is how my car sounded at cold start with catless UEL and stock everything else.

Cold starts sounded like rattle cans and the overall note sounds restricted and a bit tinny.

Here is how my car sounded at cold start with catless UEL and Resonated CBE.

And how glorious it sounds driving away.

In short, get a CBE or at least an ABE to open up the exhaust rumble and note.

What about uel + muffler delete? That viable?

I personal like the fully cated exhaust. Tad muffled though.

Take note that videos of header-only exhausts accentuate the rumble, or burble, of the system.. in person it's much less pronounced and sounds just like a buzzy tractor. Ask anyone of us who has ran this setup how we know..

If you like LOUD and raspy, it'll work.

So I need UEL and a cat back to not sound like a honda. Got it

OP edited with this question.
