North East Track/AX - what did you sign up for?

What track/ax events have you signed up for?

My schedule

Highly recommend the Lime Rock Park (LRP) autocross (ax) course for learning car control before pushing the limits on track. More experience with losing traction in a safe environment (smoother eyes/hands/feet in quick transitions at lower speeds but at the limits of traction) helps with driving smoother and faster on track.

For more HPDE track events within 300 mi from Manhattan, check Motorsport reg.com.

I was always told that Lime Rock was a bad idea for a track day noob?

The track is not scary, just has its own challenges when driving at the limit. Novice should go with an instructor and take time to learn the lines/braking/throttle/turn-in/etc., just like on any other track.

The ax course (small .5mi track inside the main track) is an awesome place to learn car control safely, especially for a novice.

I just e-mailed Lime Rock about the Auto-X coaching day on 4/21...planning on attending but the fact that it's on a Tuesday will make it inconvenient for many.

Anyone else interested?

Registered...felt the price was a little steep, but then again you don't need to insure the car for this. Actually, you don't need to buy anything else besides the ticket which is a plus.

I won't make that one but you'll have a lot of drive time. There should be three coaches there, take advantage of them - you can ask them to join you as passengers or drive you in your car. Have fun!

I wish...unfortunately won't be able to make it to that one

Wow, those are some expensive events. And here I thought a $50 SCCA autocross fee was unreasonable.

Does anyone know of some more reasonably priced racing events in this part of the country?

Note that these are HPDE and AX events, not racing. Look at the last link in my op - you will see that PCA, BMW and some other clubs may be cheaper and $40-$50 membership pays off quickly. Redo the search with desired max distance from your zip, most available events are included.
