Benefits of a high flow cat?

Hey all, I am considering to buy a high flow cat.
What are the benefits? Worth the $ ?

Hi flow cats like the name implies, flows better which will give you more power. It will also be louder. Worth the money is subjective and up to the individual.

Are you on stock exhaust? And yes as the person above me said it just allows for better air flow and will pick up a marginal amount of hp. A test pipe will be even louder, smell worse due to lack of cat, trigger a cel without a tune, and pick up a few more hp.

this is actually not true in regards to the cat in the front pipe. removing the second cat will not trigger a CEL because there is no o2 sensor attached to it.

source: i haven't had a second cat for 15k miles.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the header. Guess I never really paid attention to it since I had the OFT as my first mod so with a tune I never triggered a light.

ah yes, removing the cat in the header will eventually trigger a cel unless you get tuned (which you should).

to the OP, if you aren't planning to replace the header, just get a catless and resonated front pipe with whatever catback you get. if you plan to get a catless header, getting a catted front pipe might be best to avoid having a smelly car and keep the rasp and drone down.

Almost nothing on this car will yield decent gains besides maybe crawford power blocks without a tune. If you're looking for power skip the front pipe for now, get catless headers + tune, then work your way backwards (front pipe, then catback).

I'm actually considering getting a high flow cat for my car as well. I'm running a 3" TBE, header and no cats. I'm looking to quieten down the exhaust note and was thinking one would help.
