Benefits of a high flow cat?
Hey all, I am considering to buy a high flow cat.
What are the benefits? Worth the $ ? |
Hi flow cats like the name implies, flows better which will give you more power. It will also be louder. Worth the money is subjective and up to the individual.
|
Are you on stock exhaust? And yes as the person above me said it just allows for better air flow and will pick up a marginal amount of hp. A test pipe will be even louder, smell worse due to lack of cat, trigger a cel without a tune, and pick up a few more hp.

to the OP, if you aren't planning to replace the header, just get a catless and resonated front pipe with whatever catback you get. if you plan to get a catless header, getting a catted front pipe might be best to avoid having a smelly car and keep the rasp and drone down. |
Almost nothing on this car will yield decent gains besides maybe crawford power blocks without a tune. If you're looking for power skip the front pipe for now, get catless headers + tune, then work your way backwards (front pipe, then catback).

I'm actually considering getting a high flow cat for my car as well. I'm running a 3" TBE, header and no cats. I'm looking to quieten down the exhaust note and was thinking one would help.
